Updated 8 hours ago, now includes; "languages (extended) english, russian" The store link doesn't work though, since it's region locked and Steam complains that the game "isn't available in your region" It is out on Steam though but only in Russia >_<

Maybe the earlier leak of the Russian version (I think it was on Ali213 and 3DM, probably elsewhere too.) could be updated with the language addition though I guess the game itself has also been updated since, maybe we'll see a new release?
(When is the EU/US release date anyways?)

Of course. Translation is still in progress, right now translators are working on text adventures. Everything else is pretty much done.

Definitely soon.jpg Very Happy That's a good price too, given the age of the game, but what's the betting that the EU/US price will jump up 50%?

Good news everyone!
SNK-Games team leader, Yakov Uvarov, aka ru_maniac says yesterday on his forum:
18.07.13, 12:19:44 ru_maniac: Перевод игры на английский практически готов, 24-го числа должны будем получить предварительную версию ресурсов целиком.

That means: Translation to English almost complete, after 24 of july we will get preliminary version of completely translated resources.

So, we can hope, game will be released at the beginning of autumn.

And on official site come in sight entry about that:
..

Looks like you were right.
(EDIT: Now that I've look at the post date it's more like "soon" instead of soon but still. Razz )

I was going through screenshots from Ag.ru and found the 1C forums that way while looking at recently released (Or upcoming.) games in this genre, hopefully a release won't be that far away if the translation is nearly complete. Smile
(There's probably a few weeks of testing and such first.)

Nope! I didn't even know we were getting this!

This will definitely warrant a playthrough. This game is an honest to god classic in gaming.

In what way? The original Space Rangers came out in 2004 (2002 in Russia) and it's a top down space sim-stroke-RPG with some text adventures built in. Surprisingly fun game but was almost practically unheard of outside of Europe Sad Space Rangers 2 came out in 2005 (2004 Russia) and improved the game's visuals, added a 3D RTS gameplay mode and further expanded the story with the inclusion of a new race called the Dominators, which was also later updated with an addon called Reboot - adding more missions, ships, etc.

Huzzah! Yeah I completely agree, it really is a classic and is ridiculously fun to play (though the Dominators are insanely tough and can wipe you out all too quickly) - the lack of marketing for SR pretty much killed the game and its chances at greatness, it's more of a cult classic thing now since many people haven't heard of it.

Of course I'm interested too! As soon as I played SR2 last year (first Space Rangers game for me Razz) I got insta-hooked. Fantastic rewarding gameplay, highly addictive and pretty unique as well in its own way. So yay^^

Still only out in RU (and the RU copy only contains RU language) but at least we can see that owners of SR2 get a 40% discount when they buy it. If this price stays true for EU/NA as well then I'm definitely up for this; €15 without the discount and €6.90 with it. I'd pay €6.90 for another SR title.

We are glad to inform you, that the release date of the game is now confirmed! Rangers would be able to free (or destroy) the Galaxy on October 17th on Steam! Also, a bit later there will be a retail DVD release (but discs also require Steam activation) in Europe. Country list and exact date for retail version will be specified within a few days.
And small teaser in the end of message: when game will be available in stores, the Galaxy Rating of Rangers will be laucnhed on this site, and everyone in every place in the all known Universe can compete with another rangers in killing dominators and pirates, trade and so on!

Finally! So Much Win So Much Win So Much Win

So, this is essentially same old 8 years old game, with some expanded content?

Not that I would complain, still great game. But still, makes us wonder, why team working on it is not capable of making proper sequel after all these years.

Listed on Gamersgate now at 18 GBP, I guess the Steam price will be about the same although maybe that upgrade option mentioned a few posts up carries over, which would make the game much cheaper.
