He was talking about the Steam legit version. Which is a 8.2gb download.

Why would you post a review of BioShock 2 in 2016?

I thought it was interesting, since its a new review they also take Bioshock infinite and the DLC's into account. I have all the BioShocks, but only played the first, this seems better than the third to me.
BS2 is easily the worst of the bunch. It's nothing but an uninspired copy of the first with extremely poor textures (Think the exact same low res assets of BS1 but for shits and giggles compressed even more. WTF?!). I played and finished them all, minus the BS2 DLC that is supposed to be very good.
I haven't watched the video though.

in this review it sounds like its pretty much like the first but with better combat and some other things that are done better.. but again, didnt play it. what's worse in the second in your opinion?
To add to those the fact the Daddy you play as seems to be twice as weak as Jack from the original is seriously eyerolling

Also the vending machines didn't make any sounds due to a bug they never fixed although they promised they would so there was no atmosphere.. Rapture was just.. silent.
I hope that gets fixed too.

Has better combat than the first but that's... pretty much it. No idea about the DLC.
It's been brought up lately and is well liked by the "progressive" crowd though, them stronk wyminz and shit

I consider bio 2 the best of the trilogy. it's better than the first game in pretty much every department except the story, but I never found that to be big flaw. exploration and combat make up by far the highest portion of the game, so i'd rather have that part done well instead of a slightly better story. gameplay is better, more varied, challenging. level design improved as well. Kinda like fallout 1 and 2 I guess. the second game expanded pretty much every game mechanic, but it wasn't narratively as strong or distinct enough from the first game to match that initial awe.
I consider it the worthiest one to carry the shock name. the first one was just too big of a disappointment for me after ss2, and I guess that will always affect my opinion of it.
the third one might as well be called call of shock. they went full retard with combat there and it just didn't do it for me.
That sounds really good then, dont care too much about story in games anyways. If it has BioShock 1's atmosphere i will enjoy it.
I agree that it was a disappointement in comparsion to SS2, it was a bit hard to not compare BioShock to SS2 after following what Ken Levine was writing on the TTLG forum when developing it.
ive never played bioshock 2 but im looking forward to doing so with the whole re-release thing
i mean if its still worse than the second game, but feels the same, has better gameplay, but a not-as-good story, its probably still going to be better than most shooters out there.
i really enjoyed the first game, it had phenomenal art design and atmosphere.
What Bioshock 2 does well in my opinion is the freedom when it comes to the sandbox-y combat: there are always many options available and strategies to adopt, levels get progressively multi-layered and the AI acts in a believable way. That's already an important achievement, especially in this day and age of cinematic dumb-or-ramas, and paradoxically the game has more value now (in hindsight) than it did back then.
Its biggest sin however is the lack of inspiration, you get that constant sense of deja-vu throughout the entire game, with the Lambdrama and sub-plots that come off as cheap (nowhere as compelling and atmospheric as Bio 1's twist 'n turn'd story).. and the unnecessary backtracking/rinse and repeat-y sessions/items fetching occasionally ruin the mood as well.
Personally I prefer the first one because of the better package (I value immersion and coherence a lot), but the Biodaddy 2 is still a solid game for what it is and worth to be played, same for the DLC which is actually pretty unique and well designed.
I don't consider the two* Bios masterpieces by any means, but they're good games with considerably less Shock, and designed for an inferior System
*I said two because Infinite for me is some sort of spin-off. A beautiful one, but too simplistic to be considered a proper sequel.
