So I went shopping in the supermarket last evening after work...
For some reason I didn't want to eat nothing salty, because I had meat for diner the whole week before and yesterday at work I had backed chicken for lunch,
furthermore I remember that image I saw on reddit with the Rock and his Pancake-stack.
That's it, ... in my head I already decided: I want pancakes!
So I was looking for pancakes in the supermarket, ...
There were some pancakes ready made and packed in a plastic bag 5 pancakes for 3.49€ which looked really good.
It said you only have to warm them up 2min on the frying pan each side, then they're ready. So I put them in my shopping cart.
Then, later I passed by a big tube saying "American Pancakes", ... I thought HUH? What is that?
It turns out, Mondamin makes pancake powder. On the tube is says: for 12 - 14 pancakes. Tube costs 1.79€
So I was thinking a minute or two, you know, doing the math:
5 pancakes for 3.49€ VS 12 - 14 pancakes for 1.79€ .... HMMMMM, I wonder .. which will I choose?
Then I grabbed the tube and first thing I noticed it was more than half EMPTY.
It contained 215g pancake powder but the volume of the tube was clearly over 500ml.
In Germany, there is a law that one manufacturer cannot offer no product on the market, if the content of the product is less than 1/3rd of the packaging. I think Mondamin pushed to the legal limits here... look:

This is the UNOPENED, unused tube. On the rightmost picture you can barely read the statement "for 12 - 14 pancakes" (in fullscreen).
Now why would they go "to the legal limits" with the packaging regulations and why do they get away with it so easily?
Well, one explanation is: they made it smart.
In fact, their product says, just pur in some milk until the tube is filled, then close it tight and shake it firmly.
Smart idea, really. Make the packaging a practical part of the "toolchain" and people will tolerate the content/packaging ratio, thinking "ya, that's how it's supposed to be, it's fine".
So ok, so far so good, I'm not judging them, pretty cunning way to attract customers into buying their product, right?
Anyhow... so I made the pancakes, right?
This is what I got, hands down, hand on the heart, no kidding, not shitting you...
Three. Three pancakes!? You have got to be kidding me, right?
Let's recap a bit here about the "doing the math" thing...
I got not 5, not 12, not 14, ... no THREE, 3, tres, tria, drei PAN mutherfucking CAKES out of this shit???

You're making thos pancakes way too thick mon
Tried a product like that once, but I reverted back to making my own mix. Doesn't take long, tastes better and you can make as much and as big as you want
(+ those products are overpriced )

Best kind of pancake!
Spoiler: | |
sprinke some sugar on it and also add bacon bits and it's fucking delicious. Much better than American style pancakes with Maple syrup at least.
