video game performance/looking is also depends on how it optimized for the hardware and over usages, even if the gap is like 7770 and 7850,there is no guarantee that the gap between the consoles will be like the gap in newest games on PC,there are other factor to take.
and so far the gab it's been estimated to be around 30%-50%,and it's not 100% yet,but it's speculation to decide the video cards are 100% like their "equivalent" on PC.
Both consoles have very comparable architecture, so I don't see how the HW can't be compared. Most of the tech inside is well-known.
Oh gee, MS people saying the difference is not that big
As for DigitalFoundry's attempt, nice try, but they themselves also say exactly what I've said several times now:
and speculation about the hardware power between the 2 consoles is better?
I think you are underestimating Microsoft knowlage in hardware.
the differences is still in dispute with in the developers themselves
The power difference between PlayStation 4 and Xbox One "is not as great as the raw numbers lead the average consumer to believe," Xbox's senior director of marketing and planning Albert Penello has stated, leading colleague Larry Hyrb to say that he is "very much looking forward to the next few months (and beyond) as the truth comes out" about the power of Xbox One.
Discussing the two consoles on NeoGAF, Penello stated that the architecture of the two systems bring them "into balance", and claimed that if there was any major power difference "it would be obvious".
"I'm not dismissing raw performance," Penello said. "I'm stating – as I have stated from the beginning – that the performance delta between the two platforms is not as great as the raw numbers lead the average consumer to believe. There are things about our system architecture not fully understood, and there are things about theirs as well, that bring the two systems into balance.
"People DO understand that Microsoft has some of the smartest graphics programmers IN THE WORLD. We CREATED DirectX, the standard API's that everyone programs against. So while people laude Sony for their HW skills, do you really think we don't know how to build a system optimized for maximizing graphics for programmers? Seriously?
"There is no way we're giving up a 30%+ advantage to Sony. And ANYONE who has seen both systems running could say there are great looking games on both systems. If there was really huge performance difference – it would be obvious."
PlayStation 4 is believed to be more powerful than Xbox One due to the system's superior GDDR5 RAM and GPU.
But Penello believes that the war of words over performance is the same as it has been for "every generation".
"I get a ton of hate for saying this – but it's been the same EVERY generation," he continued. "Sony claims more power, they did it with Cell, they did it with Emotion Engine, and they are doing it again. And, in the end, games on our system looked the same or better."
Responding to Penello's words on Reddit, Microsoft's Larry Hryb said that his colleague was right.
"We have some of smartest programmers in the world working on Xbox One," Hryb said. "I am very much looking forward to the next few months (and beyond) as the truth comes out."
now,you can put theories and speculations based on what has been posted already, but we don't know 100% how the consoles work as far as I know,I think the PS4 will be better, but not as much different that people tend to think,I can't backup that, but nither anybody, only compare what we know so far and speculate,it doesn't mean it will be like that.
You are still posting responses from MS people (one of them a marketing guy, no less) and claim dispute among developers based on a quote form a single person - Carmack

but this time,Albert actually do have good points, the PS4 seems to be the stronger hardware hearing the claims for few other 3rd parties, but it still a dispute because so far the different varieties between 15% to 50%,my guess will be somewhere in the middle.

Even if that's so. There is a lot you can do with a 30-35% of "extra" performance on a console. It's not insignificant...
The difference between one gen in GPU development is usually 25-50%. How is that not a considerable difference?
The PS4 is technically superior, whether devs will take advantage of that is up to them (judging by PS3 vs Xbox360 they'll take advantage of even a little difference). I don't know what's there to discuss really.
"Signify" is Disputable, you can see difference 360 vs PS3 in multiplatfroms games, most 360 favor
but most is FPS/graphics different, which you don't see that much of.shadows, light, better texture here and there.... and FPS stability...
I don't consider the current situation as Signify different, because all games can come to both consoles, and the FPS and graphics is still decent in the end. if the different in next gen will be the same,or similar,it will be even less impact to which consoles to buy, though for me,I think I will stay with Sony this gen,but this is nothing to do with hardware power, rather the games.
if you consider the current gen FPS and Graphics Signify differents,go ahead and go with the strongest console.

Just up front; the words you are looking for are "significantly" (not "signify") and "difference"
But none of us have said that there is a significant difference between the PS3 and 360. Nor has any of us said, as you once again imply, that some games will not come to the Xbox One because it's weaker.
What we have said is that because the two platforms share the same basic architecture, a comparison between the two is much easier and the PS4 simply is that much more powerful. PS3 and 360 don't have such a hardware difference; the reason the PS3 often falls behind is more one of software than hardware (it's complex to use Cell because Sony has no simple API to take advantage of it).
Because of that, Xbox One will surely get the same games, but it will run them with a lot less details, or it will run them in a lower resolution. And yes, the difference between 720p or 1080p is very noticeable, as is the difference between FXAA or MSAA.

Actually,mr.s did mention it previews page:
in any case. my mention about PS3 vs 360 differences was not about just because it was mention it,rather my theory about how next gen going to be:
The main differences of Xbone and PS4 is Ram and Graphics Cards so far.similar advantage the Xbox 360 had over the PS3,with better GPU overall, not just the PS3
complexity, which became less problem in mid to late Gen when Sony improved their Kit.you don't have solid proof about how much PS4 will prevail on Xbox one in terms of graphics/resolution,rather speculation, and so far the Xbox one games will be 1080p as well.
The X360/PS3 comparisons don't fit at all, since the hardware in those two consoles was quite different. The upcoming consoles are more similar in the type of hardware used, so making some calculated assumptions about their performance actually makes sense.
that's a good point I must say,it's true that next gen going to be more similar to PC,in terms of architecture, but it seems that the GPU/CPU still going have to be unique for the hardware they made for.

No, you're missing MinderMast's point. And it's the same point I've been trying to make.
Yes, they're much more similar to PC this time. But more importantly they are extremely similar to *each other*. PS3 vs 360 is Cell/RSX vs Xenon/Xenos. PS4 vs XBO is Jaguar/GCN vs Jaguar/GCN. My point has never been to compare them to the PC, or even say that the performance of a 7770/7850 is that of XBO/PS4; XBO/PS4 will perform better than those videocards for many reasons. But as a relative comparison between the two camps it makes perfect sense, as those cards share the same GCN architecture with XBO/PS4.
Who the fuck is Jackson Carter and how does he have a machine that isn't out for another 3 months?
I don't know.
But I have the feeling that his job is now at risk! Especially, for good measure, showing his face
He must be one of the beta testers or his father works for the Xbox division of Microsoft.

Wow the Xbox One looks ugly as fuck, nice finger prints on the console also.
Yeah it looks like some old VCR lol. But the finger prints are only so visible because of his lamp that shines on it. If you look at your tv or phone in direct sunlight it will look the same.

Capcom clarifies that "Deep Down" is a PS4 exclusive title.
(Or the producer of the game clarifies that it's a PS4 exclusive but yeah it's the same thing.)
It looked awesome at first, but then they said it's an online-only game and all desire melted away. Shame too but oh well. Oh and new DriveClub trailer;
Though, much like Deep Down, all desire has gone for this as well since the fucking thing is only 30fps. 30fps racing game... dear lord...
this interesting,I would like to hear from Sony themselves also, but here we go:
Spoiler:
Quote:
1. [PS4's] 18 CU’s vs. [Xbox One's] 12 CU’s [does not equal] 50% more performance. Multi-core processors have inherent inefficiency with more CU’s, so it’s simply incorrect to say 50% more GPU. (Note: CUs are ‘compute units’
2. “Adding to that, each of our CU’s is running 6% faster. It’s not simply a 6% clock speed increase overall.”
3. “We have more memory bandwidth. 176gb/sec is peak on paper for GDDR5. Our peak on paper is 272gb/sec. (68gb/sec DDR3 + 204gb/sec on ESRAM). ESRAM can do read/write cycles simultaneously so I see this number mis-quoted.”
4. “We have at least 10% more CPU. Not only a faster processor, but a better audio chip also offloading CPU cycles.”
5. “We understand GPGPU and its importance very well. Microsoft invented Direct Compute, and have been using GPGPU in a shipping product since 2010 – it’s called Kinect.”
6. “Speaking of GPGPU – we have 3X the coherent bandwidth for GPGPU at 30gb/sec which significantly improves our ability for the CPU to efficiently read data generated by the GPU.”
as i've been saying for a long time, you can't directly compare consoles like for example Warelds does. it's much more complicated than that. only few years from now we'll have a clearer picture how one console compares to another.

I agree, it's probably going to be the same as this generation. I just googled a bit for the toutings of ps3 and xbox360 and according to the data I found, Ps3 was said to have around 600Gflops while xbox360 had little more than 300 we all know how this turned out.
So I expect on par 3rd party titles with a small edge in first party for sony, just as things were this generation...
