well at this point goro´s movies are very weak compared to his father´s.
the animation style is there, but the heart, vision and everything else is missing.
lets hope he gets better with age.

I bet you're judging by Gedo Senki only. It's still REALLY good as a debut of a young director. I think he will learn to add heart and soul as soon as he gets more 'comfortable' with production process. From Up On Poppy Hill is much better, for example.
And Hayao makes weak stuff too. Ponyo, for example. Except for real-life scenes (like nursing home) it's actually weak as a story and characters.

Absolutely looking forward to the English release of this, I don't care whether it's dubbed or subbed, just as long as it does come out! My wife is already sliding off the sofa at the thought, being as how she's an immeasurable Ghibli/Miyazaki fanatic. Even better is that this is only one of two Ghibli films coming this year! First is, obviously, this saga about the Zero Fighter from Miyazaki and then the other is currently in production and it's called "The Story of Princess Kaguya" (Kaguya-hime no Monogatari). Not by Miyazaki but by Studio Ghibli and Isao Takahata.

Director Hayao Miyazaki announced today at the Venice Film Festival that he would be retiring, effectively making "The Wind Rises" his last film.

I love shinkai's work but it will always be ultra realistic, he cant create fantastic worlds and characters like miyazake. i still have high hopes for goro, as mentioned before
