I guess it comes down to personal preference, I still think that ICEnhancer stuff can look incredible - like in that 2.5 video and especially in the one ixi linked to as that one is, to me, simply jaw-dropping - but I understand engine limitations are inherent and can prevent it looking even better, no matter how many external hooks are used. All I know is that I'd love to have a rig capable of playing like that
~edit~
That video from ixi reminded me of this (spoilered because huge!)
Spoiler:
Exactly . I would love so much to replay the game with those purdy visuals, but alas the last time that I tried both this and the ICEnhancer, it was really a slideshow-party. A shame.

so unless you enjoy playing games at 20-30fps (KC-way ) they're a no-go.
Wat you mean, there is motion blur so it makes sooo smooth
It really looks the same. The differences are exaggerated. I am annoyed by the little of things, playing on the same TV the two different versions, they really look very much the same. On a 1080p TV, they look equally shit.

Looks incredible The dude's rig is immense but there's no telling whether he artificially sped up the recording to cover up the slideshow
Yeah, we'll never know for sure . Though with that rig he could hypothetically reach stable 30fps with almost no stuttering, which for the modded GTA IV is a huge achievement xD
Oh and look surprise surprise, the injectors don't fix the low precision distant z fighting.
So far I have seen none of that shit in GTA5, which is very good!

Aye, with windows and other "objects" phasing in and out of walls? That really is quite off-putting

I'm so tempted to reinstall and give it a try, but egh.. we all know what the result will be; a stuttering sub-30 mess and more Sabin rants'n'raves
Sadly, those excellent configurations are very very rare :\
It's just a fucking ini file, you serious? What, morons are "secretive" of their ini configurations?
Nope, most of them make their own shader files as well. Many times it's the shader that does the greater improvements from what I've noticed
Good old LeoNatan always talking out of his ass
I have no idea what the fuck they do, nor do I give a shit. You lamented "rare configurations" and I lolled. Lol still stands. If people won't share their shaders because of some "look at me, I am better notion", they are morons.
Some of weather sets look terrible. Some weather patterns are fantastic tho

With everything turned up, the game sticks to 35 FPS as if its life depends on it. Toning everything down to High from Very High suddenly allows for 60 FPS to happen. View/detail distance have 0 effect on framerate
Meanwhile, my GPU's picking it nose because there's nothing for it to do, I'm 100% CPU limited

And to think that there are still people out there that refuse to believe GTA4 is the shit port it is...
