Blood and Bone 7/10

Thoroughly entertaining, though most any film with Michael Jae White and Eamonn Walker is entertaining. Fight scenes were fun though A.W.O.L (or "Lionheart" in Uhmerica) was far better overall.

Still better than his Madonna period.

The Hobbit 6/10

Gave it another try, proper Bluray and all, but it just didn't "get me". It's just a continues scene that goes on and on and on and i really had to force myself to keep watching. It's nicely done, sure, but the dialogue is just ... so ... meh.

Byzantium 7/10

Nice little vampir-esque story of a 17 year old mother and her 19 year old daughter (well, she pretends to be 16 hehe). It's not the worst thing i've seen and i didn't have a problem seeing it through the end. All in all ok movie to watch.

Killing Season (2013) 8.5/10

Ha, this was some nice shit. De Niro still got it. And Travolta as a bad guy (or victim of his past) also was convincing. Weird it has such a low score on imdb (5.2). Guess it didn't got over well with the american public lol. Something had to be wrong there. The movie is very fun to watch, yet succeeds at passing a very strong morale to it all at the end. A "do not miss" movie for me.

This movie is spot on witht he atmosphere. Even though i never grew up in a area/situation like that, i came to think of my own youth, and how i grew up, when i finished watching this movie. Superb cast and spot on acting and the most important thing, its beliveable ! You should watch this one.

Sunshine 11/10

Seriously, this movie was perfect in every aspect to me. Loved it! I really enjoy a good sci-fi flick, and this one hit the ball out of the park. Great actors and some very good acting, the atmosphere and scenery were top notch, the plot even better, and the pacing was damn near perfect too.

I've seen a lot of Danny Boyles films lately (Trance, Slumdog, The Beach) but this one tops them all for me. See this, really....watch it

pacific rim 6/10 3d imax
shot like a tv show...
written like an anime...
too many close ups...
nice fighting...
purdy realistic in terms of visuals...
pretty lol at times...
would've been 10/10 if it were a 26 episode anime made my sunrise.
as an imax 3d it was just too busy on screen... it might get a higher score once it comes out on the web. but right now... 6/10 because it felt like a tv episode rather than an epic movie.
it was epic though. just didn't feel like a movie. Sad

Dredd - 6.5/10

Entertaining movie. Nice visual design, very nice performance by Urban, nice depiction of a corrupted city.. The movie started as a 7.5 for me.. and then dropped to 7.. and then to 6.5.

SPOILERS

You see, in the first 10 minutes they show that a drug called slomo which basically makes everyone that takes it see the action slow down to 1/100 is featured in the storyline. And also that Dredd is going to do a lot of shooting in this movie..

So you are thinking "I get it! By the end of the movie Dredd will be forced to take the drug and engage in a super slomo gunfight! Sweet!"

After all Karl Ubran did that in the Doom movie!

Right?

Wrooooooong!

The slomo sequences are entirely pointless. All but one are not even action sequences. Dredd never takes the drug!!! Even when he visits the lab that makes it! WTF!

Apparently the movie was shot and released in 3D so I guess that's why there were random sparkles and shit in the slomo sequences.. Guess what.. They did nothing for me in the 2D version..

The shoot outs in the movie are very basic. Urban points his gun, shoots and the actors fake that they got hurt and fall down. /yawnnnn

The movie seems to hint that there is a big twist!! Something Ma Ma doesn't want anyone to know.. What could it be??! ..That she manufactures the slomo drug.. Uh, okay? So what? Does it even matter?

Finally I would like a tiny bit of more character development for Dredd. By the end of the film Dredd is changed but only very so little. It wouldn't be Dredd to be completely different, but I would appreciate if his internal transformation was a bit more evident.

It's a shame, the movie started so strong.. and Karl Urban was fantastic.. Oh well.

Judge Dredd - 6/10

Oh boy.

- Shit script.
- Shit performances even Stallone (but also read bellow), that don't even fit the shit script! It's like they say all their lines wrong!
- Shit comedy elements, some 90s cheese..

+ Full of pew pew, explosions, special and visual effects. There is even a gigantic robot!! I didn't expect it to be such an expensive production!! Seriously the movie is so shiny and flashy it can't bore you!
+ Stallone is his good old typical action hero self.. in the second half of the movie. We had to sit through his "I am the law lol wut lol wut lol wut " first half bullshit to get there. Facepalm
+ Good music

Not a bad movie, but the script and performances cannot support the visuals.

New Dredd is a far more serious attempt and while it doesn't entirely succeed, it's perfectly cast, and its script is far more engaging. Old Dredd is good only in the "a 90s big budget Stallone action movie? Hell yeah, it's enjoyable!" sense.

TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"

Yeah, I know, liked the movie a lot as well. An original plot for once... Too bad my gf fell asleep in the cinema, again... She has the brains, a PhD, can have intelligent conversations, has style and is 28... yet she likes twilight movies Laughing Laughing Laughing Everytime I go watch a nice movie with her different than rombocombo shit or brainless chick flix she falls asleep.

How come you guys are watching older movies and only finding out about them now? 3:10 to Yuma has been in numerous top10 lists!

Anything recent that I really should watch? And please no 3D rombocombo Battleship style...

The conjuring - 5/10

Another boring ass horror film that trys every tactic in the book to try and make you jump but never actually succeeds as its obvious its coming.
At least it was a step up from Insidious where I was actually laughing at half the stuff going on.

That sucks to hear, I usually like these types of movies, and the reviews have been pretty decent for the conjuring, I still plan on seeing it however.

Oblivion 9/10

Completely blew me away, it was fantastic! Really enjoyed the plot, the visuals were incredible, the pacing was great and DAT OST! I went into this not really expecting all that much, an enjoyable popcorn flick I guess, but came out feeling exhilarated. Thoroughly enjoyable scifi flick --- and yes, as mentioned earlier; serious Mass Effect boner Very Happy

The Conjuring - 7/10

It's not exactly original, the scares can be too predictable at times and the story is frankly brimming with silliness, but despite everything the movie works quite well.

There's the right amount of tension, the pace is good and the retro atmosphere also contributes to raise the level of creepiness. It's above our usual (mediocre) hollywoodian horror movie, and that alone is enough to make me give it a positive score.

Wolverine - ?? / 10

I don't know what to rate this movie as I think I'm getting tired of super hero movies, which I guess begs the question why I went to watch it. I mean it was...ok, I guess. Ah screw it >_>

EDIT: Oh yeah...the actress that plays Viper...fucking god awful, just god awful. Not that I know anything about acting but I just hated every moment she was on screen and running her mouth. Possibly because the voice wasn't actually her voice but a voiceover?? I don't know, it just sucked..badly.

It's probably great if you've never seen any other sci-fi. Pretty shit if you have, since it blatantly steals from about 10 other movies.

Yup, agreed. Same with people that guessed the twist in Sixth Sense... yeah.. sure you did.. sure... *pat pat* Laughing Yes, Oblivion had some fairly obvious twists but overall? It was still incredible and certain people are just being obnoxiously snobbish about it.

I didnt *really* guess the actual plot.
 Spoiler:

. I just didnt like decisions made by principal characters in the movie and how all the moral implications were handled. I found it stupid, tbh. Still a beautiful movie.
