Hmm..with some few exceptions (names) i've never heard any of these words being pronounced even close to the false ones he mentioned. I've only heard the correct ones. (atleast I don't think i've heard them anyway else)

It's targeted at America, of course Wink Besides, a lot of those pronunciations depend on regional dialect, so some of his corrections aren't "corrections" anywhere except America. For what it's worth, my pronunciation has always been fantastic but even I have to admit I've been misusing forte all these years :/ Pronounced "fort" when it's something you're especially talented at...? Oops. Oh well, we all make mistakes Smile

I've been pronouncing forte and ethereal wrong all these years. Damn this blasphemous video!

yeah. forte got me.
most of those are worthless fakes.
AX is only mainly said by black people and it's passed on.
My nephew had a kindergarden teacher who said ax instead of ask.
He ended up using ax instead of ask.

It's normal.
Names are lol.

I liked the video... but his attitude made me want to beat someone up.

thats because they hear it from the black kids... or are around many black kids that they pick it up.

I have no problem with it. it's part of our social culture now.

I have never heard anyone say AXTERIX
or
FACEtious.
or many of the other ones.
Maybe when some one is reading the word for the very first time... when they're 6.

No, it's not part of my social culture. Just like "could of" "should of" "would of" are not either. Especially if what you say is true and these mispronunciations come from communities where there are large percentages of illiteracy and no education. We should strive to bring weaker elements of society up, rather than lower society as a whole for lowest common denominator. Rolling Eyes

but... it's impossible to teach everyone to read and be smart and stuff. it's easier to just give up.
