“People loved the naval [combat], people really enjoyed the fight, but we knew that the stealth element was something that we needed to push,” he said.

Ubisoft has therefore “put effort into the system to make stealth really viable gameplay”.

“If you really wish to play the game completely in stealth then you can.”

“Having tools that work in range, having tools that work in close combat, but have a stealth element to them,” Ismail said.

Well well well, this is a good news. Razz

Though..

Cool Face

AC3's stealth was quite poor in my opinion, so whatever they will do to improve it, it's fine.

Good news indeed, and glad that naval combat is making such a big comeback, the naval was one of my favorite areas of AC3. I want never ending naval missions pls!

One thing I've always disliked in AC was the "weak" RPG/power development. As the game progresses, you don't feel like you're getting much stronger or powerful - any enemies you could defeat near the end of AC3 could basically also be defeated early on in the game. I wonder if this'll change in this installment...

If you're expecting any kind of challenge from any AC game, old or new, you'll be disappointed I think. The upgrading of items and health is mostly artistic IMO.

Yeah that's what kind of turned me off in AC3... everything meaningful was SO easy :\

We’ve already regaled you on the UbiBlog with tall tales about Kenway’s exploits on land and sea, but one thing we’ve yet to dive deeply into is how our newest Assassin can also sneak around with the best of them.

That’s all about to change thanks to a brand-new gameplay demo showcasing an open-ended plantation raid. Plantations, as we’ve previously reported, are one of several types of locations you can plunder throughout the game. There are about 10 plantations in total, and they not only replenish their stocks at set intervals (so you can raid them again), but they also change it up a bit (for example, the key-holder will be different person), offering a new challenge each time.

In our behind-closed-doors demo, we start off with Edward anchoring the Jackdaw “around the corner” from a plantation, then swimming the short distance to shore. (As in earlier demos, we spotted a rowboat near the beach – perfect for fast-travel back to the Jackdaw.) Our objective is simple: find the soldier who holds the key, then use that key to open the storehouse. It’s not so easy, though, because not only is the plantation riddled with enemy soldiers, but there are new threats on hand: strategically placed gunners who can snipe you into oblivion much faster than they did in previous games if you aggro them.

Quote:
Our next goal: get rid of that bell below. Similar to Far Cry 3’s outposts, plantations have alarms (or, period-appropriate bells) that the guards will ring when alerted to your presence; disable them and you won’t risk being rushed by even more guards. Better yet, you get a nice cash (or, gold) bonus if you can complete a plantation raid without triggering any bells.

Naturally, bells tend to have guards around them, so Kenway uses a non-lethal weapon to create some havoc: his blowpipe equipped with a berserk dart. Edward then uses the cover of the ensuing chaos – with the berserked guard attacking his mates – to circle around the treetops, leap into a pile of hay, then run up to the bell and remove its ringer. (Keep in mind that there are multiple bells throughout a plantation, so you’re not off the hook if you disable just one of them.)

And wait till you play AC3, where there's only one right path/way to be a successful stealthy panther, it was infuriating at times (since I wanted to get the full synchronization Razz).

If they really allow more freedom and approaches a-la FC3 in this one (that I liked a lot, despite the slightly consolized feel), I say good indeed. The combat will probably stay the same, but oh well, we can't have everything Laughing

I was also a full sync nut, untill I realized I actually limited myself by doing that.

P.S. stealth in a AC game Reaction

Houses look a bit more detailed, but overall it's pretty much the same, I agree. Still looks great though Smile I particularly like the lack of loading screens, gives an idea of what The Witcher 3 will bring. Although I wonder whether interiors also have smooth transitions like going to/from sailing the ship, I don't think we've seen footage of that yet.

Agreed, the lighting is also better, but nothing too mind-blowing of course. The base mechanics/combat seem identical to AC3 as well, but thank bejeezus the free aim will finally guarantee more diversity.

No more "forced aggressive approach because otherwise you can't lock-on the target"..we can actually kill people from a distance now. Razz It was about time really

The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

"Back in June Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag director Ashraf Ismail gave indications that the next installment in the Assassin's Creed series would be released for Windows some time after the release of the console editions of the stealth/action series. Now games.on.net has a follow-up from Ubisoft saying they are still working on making this the first game where the PC edition is released simultaneously with the console editions. "The PC version hasn’t been delayed," says Ubisoft's statement. "We’re all still working towards an October 31 release date for all formats."

Seeing all those videos i think ubisoft should just ditch the desmond/future parts of the game and anything about assassins and just make these kind of games in different eras. This looks like fun pirate game, but ac havent been assassin game long time.
