Obviously it is to stop people using the site anonymously. I don't see the problem. Facebook is monitored. So it could be for account security, to stop people creating fake accounts, for logging illegal activity..
If people have a problem with it they shouldn't use FB. It's a social site where all of your personal details are posted. Who cares if they get your real IP add?

person who told you that is so full of shit. there are some idiots who think that not having failbook account makes you antisocial or something, which most of the time can't be further from truth.
how many times have you heard of someone not getting a job because they had NO failbook account?
now, how many times have you heard of someone not getting a job, or getting fired, BECAUSE of dumb shit posted on their failbook account? |
Haha yeah, I don't have one but very often my friends use fake names there to avoid all the inquisitive and creepy bosses who like spending their time on virtual gossip, trying to find clues to blackmail their own employees
Though I have to admit, for someone like me who is supposed to be a manager and work in the marketing, not having a derpbook account can be counter-productive these days. It's kinda sad  |

Yeah, linkedin is great when it comes to displaying skills/cv (I still have to set up mine, though ). But apparently -according to my old professor- 'if used correctly Facebook can the most powerful tool at our disposal to be the perfect manager'  |
