Vegas is a drama based on the life of Ralph Lamb a Las Vegas rancher turned sheriff. After a casino worker is murdered the mayor asks Lamb to investigate. This leads him to his first run in with Chicago gangster Vincent Savino. Lamb turns to family to help him keep Las Vegas safe, his brother Jack and son Dixon work as his deputies. He also teams up with Assistant District Attorney Katherine O'Connell, who lived on the ranch next to him to help keep the streets safe. Vegas is created by Nicholas Pileggi.

Very good start, but more importantly, an excellent cast.

Pileggi wrote both Casino and Goodfellas so if they decide to not make it into hurr durr CSI in the 60's there could be some great characters coming out

I love Vegas (the place), is this based in the casinos most of the time? If so, I am in!

Having enjoyed the first episode I'm definitely going to keep watching.

Believable and relatable...Yep, sounds like Call of Duty

The pilot didn't leave a long lasting impression. But, that being a first episode it's aim was to introduce the characters and the setting, so it's hard to judge just yet.
The cast is nice, but on the other hand the script was weak and the show isn't taking itself too seriously, so not sure where they are going with it.

It really does. Even the writers have only written serious R-rated shit. I guess those network dollars came luring Laughing

I have seen the first 4 eps so far and its really really good.

Yes its not as R18 as you'd get in the movies, but it's pretty good - solid story, good character development, plenty of different locations.

My main concern is that they start to focus too much on individual murders (CSI:style) and less on the overall story / plot.

FINGERS CROSSED it stays as good, and fingers crossed it gets renewed.

Did it become a standard procedural?

Just wondering, because I wanted to get into it.

It is more serialized the last few episodes. Still some story of the week, but also some great stories on Vincent and Ralf. Smile

"Noo" what? Serialized means that there is continuity from episode to episode. Or do you prefer the CSI in the 60s type episodes?

Heh. Obviously this could not be possible compared to The Borgias but it still sucks a lot of shows getting canned :\
