I currently have this.

.. currently.. I have those for last 12 years. they still play perfectly but even tho I am using this set as 2.1 system, the cables are a mess and power brick is huge and gets hot like stove. Really. i cant touch power brick.

Add to that, my desk is very small and getting rid off all that wires behind it, subwoofer etc, would give me some more space.
The point is. Those speakers still play fantastic... it's just too hot power brick, too much cables and space.

I would like something without subwoofer. Just simple 2.0 stereo speakers for PC. maybe some full range ? But small.... hmmm and I don't want to spend on them like crazy. decent 2.0 shouldnt be too expensive right ?

If you want somewhat quality, stay away from "computer" brands. Here is cheap and good ones...

Behringer MS40 (around 120-130€)

Then only "good" ones would be Creative T40, they sound pretty nice, considering they are creative.

creative lol..fuck those pieced of crap.

If you're going to get computer speakers, get Klipsch

http://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-ProMedia-Certified-Computer-Speaker/dp/B000062VUO

you can probably find them cheaper than that elsewhere. I've seen em for about 150 at some retail stores.

[edit] ya..even BB sells them cheaper

Learn cable management

You're handy as hell with making stuff. You can't tell me you can't modify your desk to accomodate what you need.

6. Creative T40 Series II

The T40s surprised me. I didn't expect a whole lot from Creative, but they certainly delivered. The Series II is Creative's second revision, one in which they removed an annoying blue LED and tweaked its settings. Bass is acceptable. Very full, lively sound (the kevlar drivers are quite nice). Distorts at high volumes. Around $140. Good for those looking for something a bit smaller than the AV40s, with much of the sound quality. Includes a headphone jack in front as well.

Full-range, 36W RMS, 100$: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009XGH2HG/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B009XGH2HG&linkCode=as2&tag=digitren08-20#productDescription

I haven't tried them personally but for 100$ you don't really have much of a choice. Personally I'd save up a bit more and get the ones Breezer originally suggested.

my cable management is good. But I am limited by space anyway. Took this photos 2 minutes ago.

Basically I am constantly trying to upgrade on it and optimize that space as much as possible, that's why I want to get rid of subwoofer but not replace 2 little speakers with 2 huge columns. I want to replace what I have with 2.0 system to accomodate more space

Yeah I might disconnect it sometime soon. I am not using it Razz

Actually creative T20 from list spykeZ posted seems like best value. Price is what I am looking for which is below 100$ and they looks nice + headphone output.... I am pretty sure those are going to be worse than what I have right yes ?

Why not a good 2.1 speaker set? You could put woofer on the floor, and treble speakers on desk.

My bf has Logitech X-230, sadly I cannot find them anywhere, new series is z something. The ones he has have the most powerful bass I've heard on 2.1 set. Best value for money imo.

Those microlab seems nice but no headphone output and I hear about them for first time actually. What the hell is microlab

but i am reading 6c review and they are growing on me anyway... even tho the price is a bit too high, there is no headphones output and they are big

What are common options of connecting headphones and speakers to the pc ? I am using rear jack for speakers and front jack for hp... should i use some amplifiers, dacs(whatever those are), or outside sound cards ?

ive got a konnekt6 which works as a external soundcard and i can play my guitar through it. Im currently using the headphones input for speakers and headphones in the motherboard. If i switch the soundcard off it goes to headphones. There are probably cheaper and better solutions if you just need a soundcard.

on another note, cant you just reprogram the mobo outputs (line ins etc) to same thing as the green one is, put both speakers and headphones in and then switch somehow when needed?

http://www.bswusa.com/Images/Product_Images/tcel_desktop-konnekt6.jpg?width=1100&height=800&scale=both

E: microlab is a chinese firm that has atrocious marketing, but high quality speakers for a relatively low price. They are quite big tho.

Should be possible - it's a standard feature for Realtek's integrated audio devices as far as I know. Click on the connector images and see what pops up.

why do u even need the headphone input on speakers if u got them on front?
if u need more quality then just get a soundcard
