Just got this game myself, and i really enjoy it so far. The graphics are good, the unit balance and complexity are really attractive. Reminds me a bit of an old RTS i still play sometimes, Warzone 2100. In that game you also had tech tree to research and units to design. Really like how you accelrate time when doing research, so u get the tech tree out quickly. The length of each mission are just the way i like em, LONG Smile

Noticed some missing or wrong subtitling, but so far thats the only bugs ive encountred. Game runs great on my machine, which is pretty good considering my machine is getting somewhat old.

So far two thumbs up, having a ton of fun with this.

Ok, I tried with it, and realized I don't have the patience for it. I suspend my judgment on this title.

Fair enough. Better then saying, "IT SUCK0RZ!!1".

This is really to tide me over until B&W 2 anyway.

Yeah clever, you hate command and conquer so you download this. Rolling Eyes

No, I love the Command and Conquer games like Red Alert and Generals, they are really great, and I played them all with so much fun. But there is another Westwood game what looks similar to this game (Still don't remember the name). Something with 4 CD's, and each CD was one group of ppl.

Uggh this game would be good, expect it's translated, so it has amazingly bad voice acting which just ruins the story. Also it's the tiny things, like the button to turn off a building (so it doesnt use power) says "Turn Power On" (whilst it is on), and vice versa, which is really annoying because in normal RTS's it says what pressing that button WILL do, not what it's currently doing. Highly annoying.

I like the building system(s) though, a nice change. The paper-rock-scissors balancing system has kind of been taken too far. If you are versing your unit's counter, then you are pretty much screwed no matter what. But in spite of all that its not that bad, a nice change for an RTS junky. Looks nice too.

I know this is a noob question but how do you build a warehouse when playing as ED? The game says to click the construction tab -> construction center and choose warehouse there, but there is only Storage and I can't built it anywhere. Anyone else had the same problems? Maybe it's a bug.

Click on the Exit building and the option is in the control box. Getting out of the whole "left click select right click do" mentality is kinda difficult at first, but once you get used to it it isn't all that bad.

Storage = Warehouse. Just a translation bug I'd imagine.

As for the complaints that this game changes so many rules we're accustomed too, I just can't understand them. This is a completely different RTS from the usual stuff. If you aren't prepared to learn new ways to play a game what's the point? RTS' have, and should always be a thinking man's game. One that forces you to devise strategies and counter strategies. To plan ahead and always be 2 steps ahead of your opponent.

But lately, it just seems to be whoever builds the most units fastest wins. Or whoever attacks first the fastest. There's no strategy to that. Just memorize a base build pattern and execute it really fast. What happened to sending your infantry to the front lines and lure a battle, while sending in cavalry to flank. Or sending in a pocket army to distract an opponent from your main force which transported in from behind. Hell, even AoE3 removed positional advantages. At least EE2 has that.

Oh well. Not much I can do about it. Might as well turn off my brain. It's not like any new games coming out will actually require me to use it anymore Sad

LOL, I was about to tell you that. Smile

Jallajollo, make sure you have some connectors to allow you to place the storage.

are the aliens way way better than the other races? I've played only on multiplayer, and that race seems very powerfull quite quickly (the big "mothership" style ships shoots down basically all missiles, and the small fighters are very efficient after that).

Having some problems on multiplayer though, dont know the tech tree, so i dont know what to research, and I always end up doing a ton of research and not building too many things, and that usually gets me killed Wink

As many small non-missile/rocket fighters (laser blasters or something else that cant be blocked) as you can build at the long long time it takes to grow an alien cruiser = owning the alien cruiser.

Ok whats going on with this one against all mission? Been at it now for 6 hrs and its still not finished! I have killed all the fucking aliens and so on but i still says i've got to destroy the hive!
Also i have to find and destroy all of the ones that was in the ambush wich i think i've done.
Third: Every so often my base stops producing tanks and stuff, the bar just stopes att full and nothing happens, i have enough storage so thats not it, and i think i have sufficient power, is this a bug?

Under Network, it should list two things. One is EarthNet, the other is DirectPlay8 TCP/IP Service Provider. At least that's what's displayed under WinXP SP1 when already networked via a DSL router.

Edit: ollax, I'd recommend sweeping the map with flying units and trying to keep as much of the fog revealed as possible. I was finding stragglers all over the map, not to mention they kept trying to re-infest the main resource sites.

Nope, neither at home or at my friends house, there is JUST EarthNet. Thats the problem, running winxp sp1, everything is set up right for the past year, tried tweaking every setting i can think of, nothing helps, not reinstalling either.
Someone else has this problem? I know you do! Because alot of people here have complained about hte RELEASE because it "didnt have a lan option", guess that wasnt exclusive to the warez version..
Something is wrong, so what is it and how do you fix it?

edit: umm....... i checked in dxdiag... and..... i kinda didnt have DirectPlay 8, LOL, just alot of network errors in the network tab in dxdiag, LOL, its from 2003, and ive installed dx9c like 4 times, and yet i dont have directplay8, LOL Very Happy may be it!

Cool, but whats up with it stop building units? I've got enough storage 82/190 and then i just won build anymore, it just stops. I think i've got enough power to maintain NY so that shouldnt be the problem!

This is a thinking mans game with nice graphicis! It's long and frustrating at times, but also rewarding:-)
I like it, but at som points i've been more or less tearing my hair out. It takes a while to figure out what to build (lotso of options regarding armour, armament etc) but stick with it and you'll enyoy it!
I'm on mission 3 and the mission itselft has sofar run over 6 hrs, so its lots and lots of stuff to do! Not your average brainded: Build the most units and win RTS!
