Fucking finally, the 7th attempt was a charm and as of now I'm officially a driver! So big fucking relief, feels amazing, like pissing after holding it out for 1 whole week Very Happy On the other hand I'm a bit embarassed by myself as I thought I'll nail it a lot sooner... Oh, well, my driving school sucked a bit too and I had to practice on my own to feel really comfortable behind the wheel but in the end - MADE IT!
Last two attempts were sooooo nervous becauce I was really close to obligatory repetition of the theory exams (they are vaild only for 6 months here in Poland) so and I had to pass practical part before June 18th if I didn't want to pass those once again. And currently, their new version introduced in Januray is reaaaaaaaly ridiculous so I'm happy as fuck Very Happy

And now, getting drunk! Very Happy

Yeah, its a pretty nice loophole here in Norway and Sweden. As long as the person is above 25 and has had his DL for more than 5 years without loosing it you can be a "ledsager". The driving should have a purpose tho, but getting better at driving is a purpose, so who the hell is gonna stop you for just letting a person drive for fun Laughing

So yeah, iv been a ledsager for the first time, driving with my 16 year old brother Very Happy It was kinda scary and he is a pretty agressive driver (not dangerously) but I was way more careful when I was driving at 16 (with my mom)

No no, I don't just mean "wife is in the car so I can legally drive" - I mean it LITERALLY; I can drive now thanks to her, since she's the one that taught me Smile I always knew the "theory" behind driving, but she's the one that physically instructed me. It's awesome Smile I really do need to get my licence properly though, I envy you Locke!

Congratz Locke! And good luck to you sabin! As everything is pretty expensive in norway I hope that at least the driving license should be cheaper Very Happy AFAIK it costs 1500+€ here.

Nah, I'll likely take a crash course in England since they're usually around £350-400. I've been driving for over a year now and always with constant tuition from my wife, so a 1-week crash course will be - should be! - easy enough and I shouldn't have to go through a huge, expensive, training course.

(sorry for hijacking your thread, locke! )

Thx guys!
Sabin, maaan, I was in the same shoes as you - I'm 32, haha, and also didn't feel a need to have a driving license - I didn't even bother to learn how to drive Smile It changed recently as I want to travel a bit and some of my life goals can't really be completed without it so I said last year: Now or never Very Happy If you actually know how to drive just go ahead and do it - you're half way done already Smile

By the way, I never thought I'll enjoy driving as much as I do and now I'm looking to buy some nice driving wheel for my PC, heheh Very Happy

I wish, its god awful expensive Sad It course it depends on how many hours you need before the driving test. But for me it was about 1500-1600 euro. Iv heard about extreme cases where people have to pay double of that Sad

In Sweden its even more expensive Surprised

... so ... that means I'll be that ass that asks why you required 7 attempts

As I said, up until my 3rd or 4th attempt I didn't really feel comfortable with fluent moving of the car, so you know, stress+shitty control of the clutch took its toll... There were also 2 or 3 failed attempt on the technical part of the test, before going into town - I hit a pole two times and once I couldn't fluently move the car uphill when using the hand brake.
Partrially it was the fault of my (a bit) shitty driving school and other part was my own stupidity for not taking my father's car and practicing moving etc. on my own. I did it only after first 4 failed attempts Sad And it doesn't help that there are looooooong strechtes of time between every next exam (3-4 weeks minimum)...
Overall: I was bit too cocky + bad driving school. Served me right Sad

Enjoy your time in traffic! The only time I can actually enjoy driving a car is somewhere between 2 and 5 in the morning when everybody is asleep. For the rest it pretty much feels like sitting in a little metal prison on wheels surrounded by psychos. Razz

My niece did that once when I was out letting her practice. Instead of braking she panicked and just pushed the gas pedal so we almost crashed through the gates to a field of horses. Pulled the handbrake all I could and tried to pry the steering wheel from her while trying to avoid to scream to her and instead tell her firmly to lift her foot off the pedal.

It seems some people, at the moment they feel they lose control, panic and go all out.

Oh no! I touched a cone - *panic mode on*
Did that with a quad bike when I was 12 or something, but never in a car. People must be nervous as fuck to react like that. Can't even imagine letting them go into a crowded city with more than one lane and bikes etc etc.
I was terribly driving during the school sessions, even crossed a red light in the last session, but it went totally smooth during the actual test.
