I know absolutely F all about coding emulators but this sounds interesting...Quote from KDSBest..
I took a deep look at the #RPCS3 emulator especialy the ppu emulation. It is possible to increase the performance alot. Since my time is big money I try to get some PoC stuff out. IMHO the performance can be increased by a multiple times. Starting with the decoder which is nicely writter TBH but not tweaked to the performance limit. Building a big switch case is just the wrong way.
Don't get me wrong they made a nice piece of software, but the lack of performance tweaking makes it a bad emulator. Instead of making things look nice they should focus more on pushing the performance to the limit. Look at Dolphine code it is plain ugly to use, but for the performance sake.
I work on a recompiler, which TBH i never expect to be full featured on my work alone. This is way to much to handle for one person, but it should give #RPCS3 people a well knowledge what can be increased.
First of all I try to show the improvements to the decoder, which will be sick.
The thing is this, the decoder does alot of stuff which can be done at load time. Loading at startup is not interesting. The performance while it emulates is crucial.
Second I always said it and I still need to say it again. Building a recompiler is not much harder than emulating the stuff like they do but the performance increase will be insane. I looked alot at recompiler codes lately to get a brief understanding how they work and it is doable for the PS3. I hope #RPCS3 guys will take my help instead of claiming false that their way is faster and reconstruct their emulator. Of course I want to get credit than, because this will be work not much people on this planet can do.
To the decoder using binary search algorithms is way faster than doing the big switch case.
If I manage to make this work I will try to give a presentation on CCC Congress or other congress that let me show this stuff since IMHO it is technically more interesting than what most of those congresses show.
Right. With all the talk of Flashback HD, I figured I'd try REminiscence on the PCSX2. Got it running all fine and dandy, but it only takes up half the screen. The BIOS boot screen is okay, so it's something to do with the internal settings of REminiscence; anyone tried it before/got it running?

Why? There's probably some benefit idk about so do tell!

Mostly, I couldn't find a PC version anywhere, and I wanted the mix of features that REminiscence gives (decent sound, cinematics, etc) over the DOSBox version of the original. I had PCSX2 about, and found that version in about 2 minutes.
Of course, if I knew where to get the fully compiled PC version, I'd go for that.

You will need the original files of the PC (DOS or CD) or Amiga release.
If you have a version distributed by SSI, you'll have to rename the files
and drop the 'ssi' suffix (ie. logosssi.cmd -> logos.cmd).
To hear background music during polygonal cutscenes with the PC version,
you'll need to copy the .mod files of the Amiga version :
Then check your pm later for a ~90mb release I just made.

guys do you know how to properly setup mouse in dolphin for those on-rails resident evil games? when i set mouse it moves like crazy and i cant shoot a shit with that kind of aiming - .-
Sorry, I don't think I did anything out of the ordinary and it worked as it should.
I remember mapping the shaking motion etc were the parts that gave me trouble. But aiming/shooting? No problem..

Can you use PS3 Dual Shock 3 controller with Dolphin emulator or PCSX2?
Absolutely, you can, just remember that you need PS3 drivers to use the controller on your PC - something like MotionInJoy, which also allows you to identify the controller as a 360 one.
There's a couple others, but I strongly recommend MIJ - it's the most fully-featured suite with signed x64 drivers and the ability to change mappings on the fly. It won't affect your PS3 controller in any way, though if you connect via Bluetooth you'll have to resync with your PS3 when you want to use it on there -- stick to USB for quick'n'easy usage.
It should be said that I'm using MiJ v6 since I had memory leak issues (400MB++ rising) with v7, but! if you install v7 and it's fine -- then I strongly recommend grabbing outtaname's custom offline tool;
Because if there's one downside to MiJ? The base app requires a net connection at startup. You can get offline "modes" for it but they're not as fully-featured nor updates as often. Outtaname's epic app seems to only work on v7 but when it DOES work, it's indispensable.
Alright, there is a check box once you select either of this profiles that says "Automatically apply to controllers when connected" So I take it that is what you were looking for?
