Opening and closing hours seem to differ a lot from country to country.
Here it generally is 8-22 (18-20 saturdays) and closed on sundays.

Iv taken for granted that its pretty much the same everywhere else in europe, but after i saw supermarkets in Denmark that closed 19-20 on a daily basis I started to wonder. And being closed on Sunday might be a scandinavian thing, but I only assume...

How is it in your country?

Pretty good here (so long as you aren't the one working in a supermarket). Most Tesco's are open 24 hours apart from weekends, where they close about 10 or 11pm on Saturday and then early on Sunday.. I think. I think there are some supermarkets that close fairly early on some weekdays, maybe 8pm ish.

Here in Ontario we got a bunch of supermarkets that are open 24hrs a day.

But up the street there's a 24/7 hour one.

Most are open 8-22 everyday here in Brazil, including sundays. A few are 24/7 (a couple in my town)...

Denmark here, loads of stores open to 22 and 24 here. In copenhagen shitloads of 7/11's around. I live in a tiny town and we have a store open 8-22 all days of the year..a Netto Wink and another similar chain thats open to 7-20 i think

I can remember many years ago when there weren't many places open on a Sunday, and then after a lot of the big stores said they would start opening on Sundays there was a lot of people protesting against the idea. I remember reading in a paper that a man was going to steal a pack of biscuits every Sunday because he thought shops being open was wrong Laughing Now shops open on xmas day.

Hmm funny question, just went to the supermarket and it was fucking closed already. Fucking Christian celebration days! Anyway, small town here in the Netherlands, my local supermarket: Mon-Sat 08.00-21.00, Sun closed.
There are 2 supermarkets in this town that are open on Sunday (12.00-18.00) but not near me.

My local supermarket (which is basically the only one here) follows the usual 8:30 - 13:30 -> 15:30 - 20:00..so as you can imagine I'm very often late and that's the main reason why the poor fridge constantly cries. Razz Laughing

It depends on the shop, for instance Tesco is opened 24/7. Smile All shopping centres are opened on Sunday though, it's insane that they are closed in some countries, I can't even imagine. Very Happy

Train stations, airports, some pharmacies and certain gas stations are opened 24/7 too.

One of the things I love in Sweden being able to shop from 8 to 22, being able to shop on a sunday...

Belgium most stores close at 18.00 with the exceptions of the Hypermarkets. those are 19/20.00. And sure you can shop on a sunday but it's more exceptions than anything else. Aka everything is a bit more of a pain.

since the supermarket i buy at, is a couple villages away (not so far, 10 minutes with the bus, takes around 40 minutes round trip with shopping), i usually buy in bulk anyway, for a couple days at a time. So the opening hours aren't a big issue Smile Plus i usually go in the morning. I hate doing things in the afternoon (except being home on my pc lol).

I had a feeling Italy was pretty much the same as Malta. When I was there my friend was like... nope, we can't go get food now. WHAT? its siesta time... lol. Thought it only was a spanish thing xD

Most of our supermarkets are open 8/9 - 22/23. Holidays are the only differences.

The only days that the supermarkets must close by law in the UK is Christmas Day and Easter Sunday. There's a 24/7 Tesco not too far away and a bunch of other supermarkets that are open anywhere up until 20,21 and 22:00. Supermarkets can only trade 10:00-16:00 on a Sunday due to some outdated, draconian laws that are no longer relevant to modern society, especially with the advent of secularisation.

I know life is easier in poland.
There they're open like 6-22 all 7 days of the week.
Not like retarded norway where it's illegal to keep open on sundays.
If the shop is tiny, and registered as a kiosk, it can keep open on sundays (pretty much 7/11 and gas stations).

I hate you.

standard?? In rome everything was always open but i was on holiday in northern italy once and pretty much everything died for 3 hours in the midday every day. It was crazy hot tho

Laughing when weather is hostile people take countermeasures Very Happy. During the summer when there are almost 40°C in the middle of the day and nobody wanders around storekeepers just say "fuck this shit!" and change the schedule accordingly xD
