I was headed for an unknown path when I found myself lost inside a deep forest.
The trees stretched high into the air, their crowns hiding the sun, the stars and the moon.
As I walked, with nothing to guide me I suddenly saw you.
As a beam of light you came into my life, a star, you pointed me toward the road.
What I didnt realize was that you too were lost, and in me you had found your star to guide you.
The path could only be found once we had found each other.
Dont mess with God, he can impregnate your girlfriend/wife without taking his pants off!

and here's an e-mail i wrote asking for a job
Spoiler: |
☐ Good Morning, *****
☐ Good Afternoon, *****
☐ Good Evening, *****
This is a preface; you don’t have to read it at all. Just scroll down to the part where it says, “Start reading here”
Depending on when you read this e-mail, if you do read this e-mail, I’ll keep it short because you either just woke up, got into the office and read hundreds of e-mails and are tired of reading more, you just had lunch and you want to browse youtube videos while the food in your stomach digests, or you’re just about to leave home after a long shift staring/listening at/to videos/clips/audio tracks for videos/a particular song you like to help you get ready for the dreadfully awful commute in this great city of Toronto.
If you read all of that, thanks. If you wanted to skim through it, let me surmise it; I’m an editor and I really don’t want to waste your time.
Moving along, I went to school and learned the useless basics. Then I got a coop/employment at a company where the basics I had learned went out the window. At **** I have learned pretty much everything and anything that relates to editing on an OSX based system. From capturing footage, syncing footage, restoring footage, handling footage, converting footage, coloring footage (though I’m not terribly good at it, I’m just OK at it), to editing footage. At ***** they taught us how to use final cut pro, but they never taught us how to edit. They expected simplicity, and at ****** simple wouldn’t cut it. I have learned the artistry of editing by working on large scale projects, some of these projects have been Juno nominated for best music dvd - Peter Katz, Michael Kaeshammer, and The Trews. We worked on all of those as a team. So, I won’t take full credit.
Apart from that I have worked on a few corporate videos, few epks, several music videos (one of which was Trews – Highway of heroes that won the east coast music video fan choice award.)
Start Reading Here…
The job, for which I am applying for is still on *****. The awesome thing about ***** is that it only allows you to apply through their submit form. In the description you asked for “awesome.” You can’t really do awesome-video-write-a-lot-of-awesome-things in a submit form. So, after a little bit of digging around I have found your ***** email.
Chances of me getting this job?
☐ Slim
☐ None
As an unemployed editor working in a grocery store in this city, a man has got to try to find a more creative way to pay his bills.
I have worked with FCP Studio 1, Studio 2, Studio 3, X (not the director), Premiere (odd years back) and now currently am learning, by my lonesome, the pleasures of Avid Media Composer 6+. I used telestream episode and apple compressor for video conversion. Apart of all of those I have dabbled in After Effects and learned most of the basics through various tutorial sites.
Did I look at your website and got a bit of an idea of what you guys are about?
þ Yes
☐ No
I have looked at your demo reel. Apart from the song that I didn’t fully enjoy I must say that some of the cuts on the beats seemed rather off (that could of course be the very fact that my macbook is on life support and not that the video was lazily cut). However if I don’t get an interview or selected for an interview (which we know I won’t, and by we I mean me, myself and whoever else is reading this particular carefully crafted e-mail) I would love to hear a resounding no in form of an e-mail. I have worked pro-bono on some of the projects similar to yours. Fish Eye Lens Stake-boarding videos, dull long cuts of political gatherings as a camera operator, and quick creative shots for a live performance. I have indeed dabbled in plenty of genres this industry provides in this great city of Toronto.
Do I fit within your company?
☐ Possibly
☐ Maybe
I am a driven individual who loves what he does. I have worked on several projects. I am a quick learner. I have worked as a Producer/Camera operator/gaffer/audio operator/PA/Editor and I have picked up quite a few things from taking on all of these roles. But I prefer being an editor. I love the long nights staring at a computer screen. I would love it even more if that could pay my bills.
Here are some links for your consideration:

That’s my demo reel.

Here are the videos I have done. EPKs, Music Videos, and don’t click on “Other”. When you’re working with someone who doesn’t know what they want they become “Other”

The muse is not with me today, but I think it needs some improvements.
"I was headed for an unknown path" I guess it needs to point out that you were wandering without purpose. Something like this:
An unknown path led me inside a thick forest
Lost and without purpose I looked around
Tree trunks stretched up high in the sky
Their crowns hid the sun, the moon and the stars
The last sentence "The path could only be found once we had found each other", you should tell that after meeting her, a path becomes visible. It doesn't need further explanation. Hope it helps a bit.
Edit: I have edited this post a couple of times btw, but it is not visible. Still poetry requires that you put something on paper, take a step back and figure out how to improve it. Every word in the whole construct should have a meaning.
