Excuse me?
Got any proof tho back that up?
Because my sources tell me that SC2 is actually bigger.
More money, more tournaments, more everything then LoL.

LoL has a larger player base than SC2 in Korea now, i think that says it all. |
So Korea =/= the whole world?
LoL:
Quote: | $4,186,941.01
80 Tournaments |
SC2:
Quote: | $6,865,805.70
696 Tournaments |
StarCraft: Brood War:
Quote: | $4,405,565.45
101 Tournaments |
It might have a big playerbase and the tournies give per tournament more, but what matters is how often a tournament is being held.
More tournaments means more enterainment for others, because that is what esports is about, entertaining those that like to watch electronic sports

The interesting part is what is more sustainable. How much of those money in lol tournaments is directly from Riot, A LOT. And then they pay teams out of own pocket too? None are from Blizzard in BW(which is dying btw) but they do have some blizzcon shit or something for SC2.

So the company invests own money to get it more populair, while others get those pricepools via sponsors and such.
That means more for esports in my books then a company using it's own money to get it more populair...

I'd guess it was bigger. Riot pumps a shitload of money in to it not only for prizemoney but paying salary to teams.
And yes its more fun than dota, no doubt there |
fixed that for ya

I dont really understand what youre trying to say... |
That i put more value and respect for a company to gain such a status by purely it's fans and community, then when a company achieves the same but basically bought it's way to that point.

I pointed Korea as example because they are actually the number one fans of starcraft, they play it like a sport, and LoL is actually bigger atm there, also LoL is the number one online game in regards to number of people playing it, above wows call of dutys etc, its that popular, and it has to have some merit there. |
Tho you cannot count random people playing as actual esport player numbers

You are not getting my point tho, but nvm.

Seriously? I dont get your point?
Your point : You dont like(respect) RIOT because , you think , that they bought all their popularity instead of gaining it from the community

So putting more value in another company, automatically means that i don't like (respect) the other at all? (especially knowing i play about 5 hours of LoL per day, and maybe 1 hour per 6 months or so in SC2 or any other Blizzard game.)
So saying "basically" and "more populair" means "all popularity"?
See how your imagination twisted my words in your own shit?

You acting like RIOT did this ever since LoL came out. LoL´s popularity started to raise rapidly ever since 2011, and back then (s1), none of the tournaments except the s1 finale was made by RIOT, same with s2. And the salary thing JUST fucking started with s3, so how can you say that they BOUGHT their way to this point. Thats certainly not a one sided view at all. You could also say that the only way for LoL to sustain their popularity in a genre with better games(dota and even hon) is to pump massive amounts of money in to tournaments and sponsorships to events etc. Dont think I have seen an event in a year or two without a massive, directly sponsored by Riot, LoL tournament(and sometimes that comes with an exclusivity agreement, see MLG). Thats NOT beneficial to e-sports and ONLY benificial to Riot.
Add to the fact that they initially tried forcing E-sports organisations to restrict themselves to only having ONE team in the genre or only staying in LoL if they wanted access or support to their own tour. Its fine, they can do what they want, but thats how it is.
