Stye. You caught it. Staph or strep infection of the glands around the eyelid. You need antibiotics. Over the counter first and if it doesn't go away you need to get stronger ones from the doctor.

The recommended dose varies with body mass and indication. A dose of 400 mg per dose and 1200 mg per day is considered the maximum amount for over-the-counter use, although, under medical direction, the maximum amount for adults is 800 mg per dose or 3200 mg per day based on an individual's response and tolerance.

Ie. 800mg x 4 times a day at MAX. If you feel any side effects, lower the dosage.

Quote:
Common adverse effects include: nausea, dyspepsia, gastrointestinal ulceration/bleeding, raised liver enzymes, diarrhea, constipation, epistaxis, headache, dizziness, priapism, rash, salt and fluid retention, and hypertension.

As with all NSAID's (non-steroidal) meds they're not good for long-term use due to negative effects on the cardiac-vascular system as well as increased cancer risks:

Quote:
Cardiovascular risk

Along with several other NSAIDs, chronic ibuprofen use has been found correlated with risk of hypertension and myocardial infarction (heart attack), particularly among those chronically using high doses.

A 2011 study reported a 51% increase in the rate of renal cell carcinoma, the most common form of kidney cancer, in nurses who regularly took ibuprofen and other NSAIDs, such as naproxen.

I never take NSAID's, I stick with paracetamol or if I need stronger stuff I get a prescription for the Swedish version of Tylenol #3 (500mg paracetamol, 30mg codeine).

wtf man. I used some weird gel to put under the lid and that fixed me up fine and my eye looked even worse. Ur doc gave u antibiotics too easily imo. Typical problem of the modern world. We shouldnt use them so easily.
But I remember the pus or w/e coming out of it in the night and in the morning I couldnt open my eye since it was dried stuck Neutral Was a bit horrified for 5 min, but then I washed and cleaned it up and pulled it loose.
