You do the SAT's when you're about 12 don't you?
Maybe it's something different in israel.

I think there should be a global classification for qualifications and exams. It would make it far easier for employers and students alike.

Not really because the courses worldwide aren't the same anyway. Besides i'm not complaining because the english education system is regarded quite highly throughout the world so if we get a great qualification (i.e. a degree) it'll put u in much better stead than someone in another country with 20 years experience doing the same job.

Erm I know know the courses arn't the same, that why i'm saying they should be. It would make comparisons between respective employees far easier.
You really like to state the obvious don't you.

I took them a while back and got a 1380.
You usually don't take them when you're 12. You can take PSAT's.
It's not a high school exit exam.

But why should they be the same? You really think that if every country learnt the exact same things the world wouldn't become fucked up? We can see now that the yanks are getting warped and their education restricted, if it was worldwide then it would be horrific. Also the standards of education in poorer countries just dont have the funding to do courses properly

SAT is the crap!
we dont have them here, but we do have one of the best education systems in the world.
Whats the point of further education? you specialise. So why do you have to do global tests to enter a university?

its stupid if u ask me, graduating school should be fine to go on to higher education if u can afford it. making ppl sit extra tests doesnt say much about the faith in the general education system

Well in england, after you finish high school, you then go on to college to get A-levels which then allow you to go on to university.

same in Canada...well, kinda...if u have good enough marks in highschool u can go straight to University but it costs an arm and a leg...thats why many kids go to college, work, get some more knowledge, their marks up, save money...then, with college knowledge )lol) try to get a good paying job so they can afford university...unless u or ur parents are rich

lol ... I spent enough friggin time in uni to add anymore school to the total!
And not all people who afford university are rich. I paid for 99% of my schooling and have the debt to prove it Not to mention it's nowhere close to the cost in the US.
And in case someone doesn't understand what's going on with all this college/uni talk ... I'll break it down (I think--correct me if I'm wrong)...
USA: After highschool (based on SATs) you could go to community college or regular college/university (in the USA college and university mean the same thing, and are generally referred to as college -- thus Georgetown University is a college).
Canada: No stdized tests, post-secondary education based on last year of school. You can go to college (equivalent of USA community college) or university.
Britain: Looks like you call the last year (or 2?) of high school, college (I took the normal amount of 5 years of high school here--since phased into 4 years).
Sound about right?

Yeah .. no shit ... spoiled little twats.
During 7 years of uni I worked bagging groceries, as a garbage man, campus parking ticket dude, campus walkhome service, graveyard at an info desk, exterior house painting, teaching assistant, research assistant -- nuff fucking jobs |
I feel ya man
While I didnt go to Uni, I've worked my ass off for many many years to enjoy the luxuries I currently have in my life. Pisses me off when others have what i have, without the work.
I have one "rich" friend still. His dad is loaded but doesnt provide him a free ride...he works really hard with me, pays his own bills etc...the only thing his dad has done for him (well, its a huge but still) is bought him a house, completely paid off and a car - which I would do for my kids. But as for giving them X amount of dollars a week and they dont work...fuck that..

In britain, you go to high school until you're 16, then you come away with your GCSE's, if they are good enough you move on to college. After this you spend 2 years in college getting A-levels. You can then move on to university at about the age of 18-19, but only if your A-levels are good enough for the specific course you want to do. For example, on my course I needed an A, a B and a C one of them had to be biology, and the other physics. The last could be whatever I wanted.
But some some of the less popular (and less demanding) courses you might only need 2 A-levels and they could both be D's.
