If all goes well, me and my fiancée might get civilly married next month and might plan to make a short trip to croatia Smile Any places you could suggest?

*wedding and a longer trip (honeymoon?) will follow hopefully in the summer Very Happy*

Can you guys suggest Dubrovnik in December? How is the weather? Or any other city? I'm open for suggestions Smile

Visit Serbia. Much prettier coastline. Oh wait... Cool Face

Dubrovnik should be beautiful year-round. However, keep in mind in December it should be snowing. Not going to be many romantic beach-side walks in that kind of weather. However I wouldn't know much about this, so ask dingo Smile

Oh and grats on popping a ring on that finger Very Happy

Serbia.. yeaah.... nooo Very Happy Maybe we shouldn't even go near the coastline if the city is just made for that. As I said, any other nice to see city with some places to visit would be great too!

Naw, Dubrovnik is a port. Still lots to do despite winter. I think you would enjoy it. But I really don't know what I'm talking about, so let's wait for some of the resident Croatians to fill you in.

And remember, bad comes to worse, Serbia is right next door. I have this great Uncle who can show you to a great great time, especially if you're Turkish... Cool Face

Plitvica lakes are nice all year round: http://www.np-plitvicka-jezera.hr/hrv/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=133&Itemid=121

Dubrovnik is also a great choice, although summer might be a better period to visit it. And I think they just finished taping game of thrones there, so you missed your chance to see that Razz

Dubrovnik is nice, but it's expensive and imho a bit overrated. They pride themselves on 'elite tourism', which means that they think they have the right to behave like assholes...

Split is a beautiful town. I've been on a vacation this year there (I think I posted pics in the VIP section), and there are tons of stuff to see. The view from the Sustipan park is just amazing

 Spoiler:

But summer is definitely better time to visit the coastline.

Plus all the major cities on the coast have big historical story behind them so it's cool to visit them and hear those stories ^^

Not to mention the islands...

Oh and congratz on the marriage thing Very Happy We should be expecting little ducklings soon xD

What dingo said, visit the coastline in the summer.
But if you're really set on coming in december, go to Slavonija.
Osijek, Đakovo or Vukovar are great cities to visit with a lot of history.
But most importantly, great food.
A few examples:
Kulenova seka-guaranteed to increase core body temp during cold winter days

Slavonska kobasica(sausage)

Our sausages are so good, even fucking bananas decided to change their molecular structure:

Slavonski čobanac

There are a number of places you could stay at, but this is where I stayed the last time I was in Slavonija

Anyway, gratz on getting married.

i visited korcula once with a former GF and it was pretty nice. Nice weather, nice castle, nice coastline. You can do some biking and some swimming, but for the rest it is a boring place to be.

Took the ferry to dubrovnik for a day. The ferry itself is nice because you go through all the islands, dubrovnik is nice, but there are other places offering the same experience.

At the time i was only 17, so i did not have a driving license nor the experience to do crazy travelling and impulsive cruising around through a country. Nowadays i book a single flight to some USA shithole and stay 2 weeks to have fun and manage a way to get back.

My brother did a month long 'eastern europe' trip with his GF last year and i quote him

'eastern europe is the same everywhere, cheap beer, nice ladies, shithole big cities, war monuments, big communist buildings in the cities, nice coastal areas, shit rural areas, nice nature, must go for everyone, nice young people, bad old people, everybody tries to rip off tourists'

I just asked him and he recommended the coastal area and the northern area, if you are into nature, should go to Plitvice park (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plitvice_Lakes_National_Park)

+1 for visit to Plitvice, try not to miss them. They are great in winter, especially when they are under snow and waterfalls are half frozen. Feels magical. Smile

And congrats to your wife and my condolences to you Pumpy. Very Happy Razz

Maybe there are less porky alternatives? Very Happy

Am not sure if I can convince my fiancée to do some hiking (she is so fragile Laughing ) so I assume it should be something tourist friendly... hotel and some touristic stuff to go. We'll stay for a week so I assume that she'll be pretty bored with staying in a hotel at a fix place in winter.

Of course there are. But they are less awesome.
Not sure how you feel about seafood, but it's great regardless in which coastal town you go to. Just now as awesome as pork related food. Razz

It really doesn't matter where you go.
You'll have something to see/hear/take pictures of, and generally have a good time.
If you decide to go to the capital though, I'll pm you some places you should visit, and great restaurants you go to without going broke afterwards.

So, another Kraut is planning to go to croatia Troll Face...

Some of my classmates and myself need a place for 1 week where we can party Very Happy (from 6th July 2013 to the 13th July 2013). We're between the age 20 and 26. I've read some stuff about Novalja (Pag) and it sounds pretty decent! Very Happy.

we were planning to stay in a big beach house if possible (should be close to the beach) for 8-10 people.

Now I need some recommandations from our croatians here Cool

Well Pag is the place to go, Zrce beach is pretty wild. Famous DJs, huge parties, loose chicks and STDs (be careful Razz). I've been a few times and its crazy.

But only if you're into some serious partying. If you prefer just to have a few drinks with friends then anywhere else is a good bet.

Also a word of warning: It's also a magnet for drunk and drugged up idiots, so be vary of those

I Am Disappoint

I'd rather masturbate with sandpaper than go to Zrće ever again.

It's been a while since I've been there, but I can imagine 101 versions of gangam style and migrene inducing techno crap.

The booze is fucking expensive, and if someone bombed the place during the summer, the average IQ of the country would go up by 20 points.

The only saving grace were the easy women.

But if that's what you guys are into, go for it.
Just saying that you'd be better paying a hooker in Germany and have someone bang on pots and pans all week long. You'll get the same result as if going to Zrće.
