I was initially bothered by the small selection of weapons, but then I realized. Why would I want or need more? Do I really need 10 different assault rifles? 8 pistols? Between the selection available, different paints and customizations, and unlockables and special weapons... I think I'm more than satisfied with what's in the game.
Only things I don't like in regards to weapons is the lack of signature bow weapon ( ), and piss-weak and useless special arrows.

while there are a lot of things that bug me about this (everyone already mentioned), i am enjoying the balance of stealth and action in the combat enough that i keep playing. you can go really fast in stealth mode and remain 'ghost'. its pretty neat when you get the flow. it reminds me a bit of sexy panthers last outing in a way, with all the leaping and stabbing and such. pure shooting/action mode is pretty nice too. i like the way the cover thing works here (after some getting used to) so unobtrusively. it makes for a pretty smooth/highly mobile feeling shooting experience imo.
my main complaint is the fire sim. its nerfed really bad compared to fc2. what was once a chaotic and awesome tactical choice/emergent gameplay mechanic, is now boring and virtually useless.

indeed, especially when i trapped MYSELF with fire so i couldnt escape and had to shoot my way out. sure was useless THAT time... i didnt even know what had happened, i just turned to run and there was a fucking wall of fire, and it was like GAHHH! FUCK! WHERED THAT SHIT COME FROM!! really surprised the hell out of me.

really? i liked those moments in fc2. either it worked great, and you set the fire, it spread through the camp killing guys as you shot the panicked survivors while they ran for safety...or you got stuck in it yourself, had to break stealth to get out and end up in an epic burning gunfight (survive or not, those are fun imo). you could hear people screaming/burning/etc. it was great fun.
so far in fc3, i have yet to start a 'successful' fire (one that killed people, spread wildly, trapped me somewhere or caused any kind of chaos for me to work with at all). i have set fire to a building full of explosives and it burnt out in seconds and didnt even explode, or turn black, and 3 of the 4 guys outside didnt even respond to the fact that it was on fire. my only fire kills in this so far are direct hits with the flare gun and molotovs. i guess ill keep trying

Am I the only one that is not impressed by this game?
The missions are repetitive as hell, the map has little variety, not as many different guns as one would hope after playing FC2, the day and night cycle and just time in general is completely fucked up, weather pattern sucks as well (no cloudy, its just either rain or sun not to mention when it does rain it lasts for a minute or two), the visuals look cartoon-y a lot of the time, the on-screen HUD and way points just kill the immersion
Maybe Im focusing on the negatives here. Somebody please tell me the good stuff about this game so that I can try to focus on that instead |
I agree with you but the thing is that I usually turn of a game after 5 minutes because its boring.

I'm not impressed either; they could have made it 10x better, maybe something similar to an open world mad max game with fucked characters and interesting factions; i was expecting the entire island to be one crazy fucked up place and Vaas being just a little part of it.. Its the opposite of Max Payne 3 where they had the atmosphere and the right ideea about how to develop a story but lacked the gameplay; here they got the gameplay, sort of, but the story and the atmosphere are really weak. As it is now its just one big missed opportunity with one fairly big world where nothing interesting ever happens
As for the visuals get the latest fxaa tool and use the guild wars 2 profile; cant understand people increasing color vibrance with that sweetfx tool, its the opposite of how i'd want the game to look like

How do you get rid of the DOGS in the camps?! They always sniff me out and I can't get the ghost thing. Is the animal repelent I unlocked yesterday working on them?

About Vaas, he wasnt meant to be a character in the first place, they added him in afterwards (after the character that plays him made an audition for another role, which he didnt get).. Any game out there could be at least 10x better, FC3 is a great game, one of the best games i've played in recent years. Sure, i'd love to see a FC with far more depth and less arcade-like, but for a commercial shooter, it's pretty damn great and exceeds my expectations.

For anyone who might still be interested in forcing AA via inspector, I was able to finally get it working last night.
You have to run the game in dx9 mode, set AA compatibility bit flag to "0x004012C1" in inspector, and lastly apply override AA to 4xMSAA and 4xSGSSAA.
The result, very low FPS, but awesome AA. I forgot to force a negative LOD value so the image looks very blurry, but it does work for me. Dropped my FPS down to around 25 (on 680GTX) so for me it's really not worth it, but thought I would share it with you guys. Hopefully we get some more bit flags in the future that work better, but for now this is what works.
