|
 |
Hey hey.. this aint what you may think.. no request from me, but instead I wanted to ask you fellows...
What do you want in a desktop search? Yes, besides speed and all that. I was wondering more like functionality. If you want some floating entry, where you can enter stuff, it shows up "fast", and you can select and run it. Or, ability to save your search which updates...? How about doing alot of cool stuff on the search result? Like, moving it, based on name. Or, something more advanced...
Thing is, Im working on something cool here, and is soon ready, but I needed some feedback from fellow humans so it can be easly expandable with _your_ requests! Its gonna be quite easy to do plugins to it aswell...
To sum it up: Is there something you miss in a search tool for your harddrive(s)?
Thanks,
Ace

Hmm how about the ability to choose just a folder? (cant do this with the crappy windows search tool)
Also the ability to search archives? zip,rar etc
Ive got so many d/l utils and as im sure most know the zip files are never indicative of the actual content..
not sure if this is possible but the ability to search an Nfo/text file within a zip/rar ? for a certain word?

Thanks! Well, I've actually done a zip plugin for my app as an example how it works writting plugins. The idea is that you can also kinda do plugins for a plugin... And yea, its just to add some extra code to the zipplugin as it is... (currently it just indexes the files within the zip, not the content of those files)
