Hi guys! HALP PLEZZZZ
I just recently got myself a gtx690 (used, cheaper) and I'm having some problems getting my primary monitor to work properly with it. It works only with one DVI port (lets call it DVI#1), if I switch it to any other DVI port it just stays black and inactive. If I switch it to another DVI port and restart the computer the monitor works until it boots into Windows, then it turns inactive again until I switch back to DVI#1 port.
I just don't get why. I can usually fix various problems with computers but when it comes to display stuff I'm a complete retard, always has been. It's my Achilles heel.
Now you might be wondering why I want to switch it to another DVI port, and that's because the GTX 690 is a dual GPU card, so it's running in SLI. Now, the GTX690 has three DVI ports and one mini-displayport as shown on this picture:
The DVI#1 port that is working is the one on the bottom right of that picture. The problem is that that DVI port is (according to the NVIDIA driver) on GPU2 (or card #2 SLI wise) as you can see on this pic (which is weird considering both of the bottom ones on that pic looks identical:
(Spoiler because it's a big pic)

So this means that I can't use multiple monitors with my primary monitor unless I want to disable SLI by choosing "Activate all displays". Yes, choosing "Activate all displays" will actually disable SLI. I could run multiple displays with SLI on if I used the other two DVI ports but they just won't work with my monitor. They do work fine with my Philips TV though (and besides, my primary monitor does work before it boots up Windows). I just don't know what to do... I'm such a noob with this stuff. My monitor is one of those Crossover 27q LED-P that are so cheap at 2560x1440, really happy with it. When I look in the Windows Screen Resolution window, there are no other monitors connected other than my primary monitor as well (even though my TV is connected to one of the other two DVI ports.
I've taken a few pics of the back of my comp, the cable and the back of the monitor. I'm desperate, I really need this to work and I'm betting I'm just being completely stupid here... Probably got the wrong cable or some such...
(Large pics ahead)
Spoiler: | Back of the comp (don't mind the dust, I've been moving stuff around and still not done so will be cleaning next week):
Cable I'm using for the primary monitor (tried to get a good pic but failed, this was the best I could do with my shitty phone camera ):
Back of the Crossover 27Q LED-P monitor:

Please halp meh! I really need to get multi monitor working WITH SLI. :'(
*edit* And no, no matter which port I put my primary monitor on, it just won't work unless it is DVI#1. I even tried using a DVI->minidisplayport adapter to see if it'd work on the minidisplay port, nope... But my TV works on all ports (I tried it both with a HDMI->Minidisplayport and a HDMI->DVI one).

Dont think I have a solution for you (dont have SLI), but your edit got me thinking about an problem I had earlier this year:
Maybe the adaptor has to be active (I had to use a active display port adaptor to get 3 monitors going with my 5570 ATI card - because the third port had to be the display port and not the spare dvi). I did end up buying a hdmi splitter instead tho, because I clone my image anyway.
There are two kinds of people I can't stand in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures, and the Dutch.

No, DVI-I is DVI-D + DVI-A in one, meaning that your DVI-I ports can take DVI-D or DVI-A devices just fine. All three ports are also dual link. You can tell what a DVI port supports by its pins:
- If the 4 pins around the safety pin are missing, it's DVI-D only (the 4 pins are RGB and H-Sync)
- If there's 24 full pins, it's DVI-I
- If the 6 in the middle are missing it's DVI-D
- If it looks like random pins are missing in addition to the middle 6 but you do have the 4 pins on the side: DVI-A (uncommon)
It should work fine off any of the ports, so I don't know what's wrong either. It's not the ports at least
You're only connecting the TV and the Crossover right?

iirc you don't need an active displayport adapter with Nvidia. It's only used for Eyefinity.
I've read that ppl are having similar problems with GTX 690 while SLI is enabled,it could be that it's just poor thinking on Nvidias behalf. :/
