IPS, no fucking bezel. Remains to be seen how good the actual panel is, but finally a monitor without bezels. And damn cheap as well, which is why I'm worried about the panel quality ($189).

With multiple monitors? Yes. It's not as bad as a lot of people think (you tend to develop a bit of a blind spot for that area), but this is obviously brilliant.

That looks absolutely orgasmic!! Bezel-less, IPS, 1080, 23" for dirt cheap too -- $189 is the equivalent of 1040 NOK. You'll struggle to find a half-decent monitor for that price, let alone one that looks this good.

Oh look. There's a shocker... 1781 NOK. A lovely 75% price hike. Glorious.

Well, $189 will be the VAT less price anyway, but even so that's a bit steep, even for Norway Neutral

And AOC aren't that common here, their stuff is not bad though. They're just like ASUS or Samsung, it's hit and miss; some of their shit sucks balls and some of it is really good and priced well.

Doesnt sound too promising, you get pretty much everything for such a cheap price (IPS, LED, HDMI, Integrated speakers etc.). Probably will take its owner with it when it blows up.

Was gonna say that LG had nearly same looking casing on some model, but it had borders when turned on.

Yeah, the bezel is 2mm but the IPS panel doesn't stretch all the way out to the minimal bezel making the whole thing useless unless the picture shown wasn't stretched to the edges.

But it's a start.

Yep, update posted on Anandtech as well:
Quote:
Update: Some are questioning whether the content of the display goes to the edge (or 2mm from the edge), or if AOC is simply using glass over the main LCD to give a borderless appearance. I asked AOC for an answer, but all I had to go on initially is the press release stating it has a 2mm bezel. To me, the bezel means the area between the edge and the display content, so 2mm would be great. Unfortunately, this unboxing page indicates that AOC is mincing words and using the term bezel to mean the distance between the edge and the glass cover. I apologize for the confusion, though an 8-bit IPS panel for under $200 is still a nice change of pace.

What a shame Sad

And it's hard to do a proper bezel-less monitor because that's where the lighting usually comes from - almost every monitor out now is edge-lit (by LEDs). Was too good to be true for that price Sad

Was Anandtech trolled (producer giving wromng info) or did they fuck up just to be the first with the news? I hope backlit monitors will be more commopn soon since the contrast, black levels and tiny bezel makes them awesome.

No they weren't trolled, they just got excited at the prospect of a monitor without bezels just like we did. There was hardly any info available on the damn thing; they did make that clear though, so I don't think they fucked up in any way.

Wow bezel-less would have been amazing, but if current IPS technology can't support it what will? OLED monitors or something else?
