Yeah, if you expect the shooting to be as good as in a Battlefield game, then you're in for disappointment. I personally got in prepared to see inferior shooting, but decent overall. One thing is superior though, and that's the hit registration Wink

Btw, I'm also playing mostly medic, more occupied with healing/reviving my squad mates than with shooting, but I'm good at killing too when needed.

I didn't expect it to be as good as anything really.

Considering SOE's five year plan for PS2, maybe future updates will improve the shooting aspect.

Or maybe SOE will turn this into another disaster like SWG.

I see I'm not the only one avoiding infantry combat. Smile I prefer being an engi and using tanks while repairing others.

Yeah, that's always a possibility with this kind of games sadly. However, I'm pretty optimistic that won't be the case with this one, looking at how well the game has evolved during this beta.

Anyone know a way to get into this game and actually be of some use quick?

So much to do I really have no idea what good game mechanics are right atm. Don't know where to start really.

Search in youtube for "Planetside 2 Guide".
You will find several videos that will help you alot.

An if you look at the launcher itself, there is a new option "Get startet" on the right side! Smile

Given that they should be starting in less then 2 hours, the lack of client and pre-load is interesting to say the least. Very Happy

Sure, you are lucky if you have the beta client installed, but the army of newbs who don't will be pissed. Very Happy They can't even use the beta installer, since launching that gives a 404 error in the built-in browser, no preparing with that one either. I'll be pissed if they require a whole new installer.

No those are not lucky. You cant use the beta-client to play the release-version. You have to download the releaseversion again Wink

I'll just copy-paste everything into the steam folder and let it sort itself out.

Trying to grab the retail client through Steam yields - "Error. No subscription". Classic SOE - hype the shit out of a launch via a countdown timer, but then don't have the resources to deal with the load (or test alternate distribution methods beforehand).

*slow clap*

Very Happy

That's on Steam's end. Usual release-time hubbub (same message with other games too, nothing to do with SOE this time Very Happy). Just restart Steam and it will be fine.

Five Tips for Infantry:
Quote:
3.Allowing you to traverse long distances quickly, Instant Action and transports like the Sunderer and the Galaxy are your friends. Running 10km may seem healthier but this is the future. We can regrow your heart.
4.Combat Medics can heal you, if you stop running around. I SAID IF YOU STOP RUNNING AROUND! This is also why you get picked last.
5.That squiggly sound you sometimes hear is an infiltrator decloaking. We know it can be hard to tell if you just heard an enemy or an ally infiltrator, so here’s a simple tip. If you hear the sound and you don’t immediately die, it was probably a friendly. If you do find yourself dead, it was probably not. If your friend is standing behind you doing it over and over, you are being trolled. Hope that helps!
