you have the original director on board and producers to make sure it's a horror movie.
and then you look at other shit sam raimi produced with his horror movie production house and it's just awful.
I'm down for this. it's not really a remake just a retelling. so no ash. all new people in a cabin in the woods who find a book they should've left alone.
... and that's my point and mostly the reason why I didn't like it. It was supposed to be serious and yet it was full of spoof comedy The rest just devolved into pure comedy with no pretense of seriousness whatsoever.
As a huge fan of Evil Dead - I still look forward to this one. Why? Well, cos Evil Dead 1 has not aged very well. I still love it, but I'd really like some better special effects.
Will they succeed in making a good remake?

I like what I see too. But on the other hand it just kills the whole Evil Dead franchise. The current generation of spoiled brats will recognise this as true Evil Dead and will despise the old classics as stop motion shit

This one doesn't seem to have any of the tongue-in-cheek humour that enveloped Evil Dead. In fact, from the trailer it seems it's taking itself waaaay to serious.
If they do a sequel I bet the possessed hand smashing plates in Ash's head won't be used. In fact, it will probably be just as empty from the humour that made the Evil Dead movies what they became cult classics for.

the thing is EVIL DEAD is a cult move for one thing it crated a new genre a HORROR COMEDY ... this remake is only gore gore gore gore gore and no comedy at all

They won't. this is much like evil dead 1 which was supposed to be a horror movie but due to the poor acting and some doofus moments it accidentally became a horror/comedy. 2nd was a full force comedy/horror and 3rd was a comedy.
i rewatched the first one recently (remember seeing it as a child the first time) and it was scary. if it had a budget it would've been real epic and real scary.
that's what this one is trying to be. a real scary monster horror movie rated r for ridiculous amount of gore. and it's shaping up nicely. if they do a sequel it'll also be gore filled rather than lulz filled.
movie will prolly suck acting wise but it looks like it'll be a nice horror flick. and we do need real gore filled horror movies. there's nothing in this generation thats scary to look at. so stop hatin and hope that the tree rape scene will have awesome breasts of a busty 'teenager'.
Im with WaldoJ on this one. Tbh Evil Dead wasnt ment to be comedy at all when it was first released (talking about the first one now ofc).
So I do hope its serious - however, if they do decide to make a sequel the will have to include dark comedy.

Nah... They won't include that but there will be homage to all parts. There's the tree rape scene, the car is the same as in original ones, there is a scene with a chainsaw and the scene were the main protagnoist cuts her hand off. But I'm cpt obvious here as all these scenes are in trailer.
