So, last week, after considering for three month, I upgraded my PC with new hardware. To convince myself, I had to completely clean my study room (e.g. get all the stuff out, finally throw away useless stuff, and junk which took me two whole days, lol), so I could buy the components as a reward. I come from a Q9550 and an P35 (DDR2/PCIe 1.1) mobo with 4GB Ram and a Lina Li case. They still worked, but I just felt the urge to upgrade. Initially I wanted to wait for Haswell, but since the innovations on Haswell seem to focus more on GPU, I decided to upgrade right now. Even if Haswell is 10% faster (maybe more in some applications, due to new instruction sets and whatnot) OCing the 3570K is just too easy. And eventhough Haswell should be overclockable aswell, the noticeable performance increase will be negligible for me.

Also, I always need to choose components which are also compatible with OSX, since I like to use this OS for work. So here we go:

new case:

fractal design define R4
http://www.anandtech.com/show/6102/fractal-design-define-r4-case-review-evolution-not-revolution

I really love this case, its a lot cooler and more silent than the LianLi aluminium case I had before. Also finally having cable management is a bliss.

new CPU cooler:

Thermalright Macho HR-02 CPU Cooler
http://www.hardocp.com/article/2011/07/26/thermalright_hr02_macho_cpu_air_cooler_review

Initially I wanted the Corsair H80, but at the last second, decided against it. I have issues with having to depend on a mechanical pump to cool my processor. What if the pump fails? (I know it wont but the feeling alone is enough) Also it's just too expensive (80€) Anyway, I got this Thermalright macho, and for the price it cost, I really like it. It keeps my 3750K cool at 4,2Ghz on Prime95, while the fan is completely unrecognizable.

and the other new components:

ASUS P8Z77-V (Needed for OSX to run without hassles, I needed to install bios (with a small hack) to get sleep/wake working in OSX, beyond that it seems like a good board with enough room for OCing more seriously in the future)
3570K (Hyperthreading is overrated)
16GB 1600Mhz CL9 Ram (probably a bit of money wasted lol)

Form my old system:

Crucial M4 128GB (Windows 7)// M4 256GB (OSX 10.Cool
2x 1TB HDD // 1x 640MB HDD
XFX 6870 DFBE
Corsair VX450 (a bit loud for my taste, but its bearable)

Thats it, new system. And the urge is satisfied once more. (It will come back around Skylake/Skymont I suppose)
