That "propaganda" documentary pointed out some glaring flaws of western society. Doesn't mean I want to live in a communist country or have communist influence in the western society. It does mean we have a lot of work to do to get rid of the over-the-top consumerism, celebrity-worship, hyper-capitalism, shallowness and replace with something more productive, more rewarding and ultimately more humane.
Completely agree. What I am trying to say is this is not a some new revolutionary idea. We know over-consumerism is terrible and celebrities are being worshiped as gods, but a lot of people in the West don't like that but since the movie is so one-sided, it omits to mention this (unless I missed something). The nice thing about open societies such as most of those in the West (starting to hate that term) is you are free to criticize how they work and if enough people agree with you, change them.
In other news, Sin pussied out of another completely civilized debate because he's out of arguments.
there are no arguments to be made. it's just like loose change and those other bull shit docs that give nothing but a one sided view of things (looking at just the negative aspect of everything [and how people are being wronged and manipulated]). yes consumerism is bad (yet everyone is into that [where consumerism is a big thing]). Celebrity being worshipped as gods... that's everywhere also and every single person on this planet (exposed to media bull shit) in some way worships at least one form of a celebrity (musician, author, actor, director, model, etc...). The doc makes points we all knew about. for a long while. yet it's makes it comedic so that every single person out there (who's all internet is awesome lets lol at celebrities and give them so much attention rather than ignore them). so it makes people go all... hey... korean propaganda isn't THAT bad... it makes the same points i feel about current bull shit. so you get sucked in and it's ok.
It's nice... but it isn't new. It's nice someone gets to say these things without being prosecuted. They have balls. lolololol. But they teach this shit in schools if you want to learn it. this just makes it much more entertaining. \o/ Also... it sucks you in into hating the western culture even more because it's 'more exposed' to you now.
Spoiler:
i wonder who's being manipulated here
Sin317, it makes it hard to have a discussion with you when you're one sided and biased and will not look into reason when having a discussion. you're just like ronron... everyone but you is wrong. that's a cool way to live a life... but then you have people here... just like you... strongly opinionated and biased about their own ideas (but unlike you, they can have a civil proper discussion without cutting throats)... and you dislike that because they don't see things your way. and you ignore them. call them childish. and act all high and mighty. That's a cool way to live a life also... but i don't think it's a way to live a life on a forum or even on the internet filled with diverse opinions (things you can't handle). maybe, like ronron should, you could go find a forum where people love your ideals and your opinions and you all can just suck each other off because it'll be such a pleasant place.
This NK documentary has some solid points with some flaring issues with Western culture, the fact that shows such as "My sweet 16" are possible and allowed to disease so many childrens minds is disgusting.
As long as Western culture keeps feeding more brainless consumerism and expenture to children through media we will keep declining.
You can hate me all you want for punching your free speech or whatever on this one, but I am thorougly disgusted by most young people nowadays.( Age range 14-18 )
what if most of the reality tv is fake tv and they are paid to behave like morons who have to say these things and act in these ways to keep their characters trending in the media. Y'know. Like how clearly some FOX news anchors don't really agree with everything they're saying but they have to because they're on contract. Or how they knowingly create fake news for their audience even though the programming on fox is clearly against the news they're portraying. Mmhmm.
You do know there's a high chance that a lot of important to todays pop culture reality tv is fake. Jerry Springer was fake. Oh boy was it fake. to get views. to get an audience. same with talk shows. it's all created to get views. you get the views you're king. so it's not really fair to insult a persona that's on tv without fully knowing how that particular person is in real life.
You have more real idiots on youtube than on tv. the ones who get super sweet sixteen birthday parties on tv because they're the most spoiled and annoying brats and idiots who auditioned for the show.
It's all fake. Created for people to watch. You can hate the content, but don't hate the actors. I mean if all people on tv were acting like their real selves then Sheldon Cooper would be dating a man, every movie with tom cruise would be about Scientology since in the media it's the only thing he talks about
Paris isn't a parasite, she's made to behave like one. Snooki acts like a bitch on TV and in person when there are cameras and people who recognize her. Does she act like that in real life with her boyfriend (who knew she was a skank and a bitch and a slut from watching her on tv) Who knows? And she had a baby with him. clearly the person she portrays on tv would get an abortion and probably drink the baby to death while pregnant and not give a fuck about and continue doing stupid shit she does on tv. But y'know... ignore the shit behind the screen, cause it's less entertaining.
Just know this the more you talk about a celebrity whether it's good or bad it gives them exposure. And that's all everybody wants. their stylists. their designers. their agents.

And when you try to teach kids at school, it becomes nearly impossible to have them understand how stupid and fake all that BS really is. All the pedagogy we have is not sufficient to fight against the medias machinery.
It's like you walked them through an enormous candy store and tried to make them eat crude vegetables instead.
Finally saw this, and damn if it isn't scarily on the mark (aside from their own propaganda and from most of the stuff that happened on the past... although their claim that history is written by the winners kind of covers that one too).
