My buddies business is benign crushed by a new no smoking ban in his city. All smokers do is drive a few miles to the other city's. His business is down 40%.

Any feelings about ( no smoking bans )?

sorry, wrong forum, please move.

I should have stated it is a pool hall, bar that he owns. Smokers drink, and that is were the money is. Tough to move when you have a lease.

I think all these smoking rules are retarded...I dunno where u live, but in toronto, and peel, u cant even have a fuckin smokin room! which is retarded, when I go to local coffee shop, I wanna be able to smoke and drink my coffee inside ya know? And as long as its a closed off room, why the fuck not right?

Still, bars here do get away with smoking inside, u pay $1 to join their "private club/lounge" or whatever they call it, then its no longer a public bar, rather a private establishment which smoking is permissable
he should try that

Think about the other people in that place and the employes, even if they make a smoke room they have to pay for it and the employes still have to go in there.
Its just good with smoking being baned on public places.

U miss read what i said man...I agree in public places where there are smokers and non smokers, totally cool
But say I go to Tim Hortons to grab a coffee and read the paper on a sunday morning after a hard nite of partying, I wanna be able to go in and have mo choice as to if i sit in the public area or in the smoking room...not an area, a smoking room with a door and tables and chairs and ventillation etc
they used to have these all over a few years back but they got rid of them in most places

And to be honest, if u go into a bar, u gotta expect there will be smokers in there...if not, do go in ya now, go to a club where ppl are less likely to smoke cuz of the dancing, some girls dont like smokers etc

I have a question for the europeans on here.
What are the smoking laws in ur respective countries? ie england, germany, sweden etc Can u smoke in malls, barber shops etc...thats how it was here when I was a lickle yute Smile

Ah a bit missreading then.
Here in sweden your not allowed to smoke anywhere inside public places (big fines if someone gets cought smoking in a bar, restaurant etc).
In stores/malls it has been forbidden for as long as i can remember. Restaurants usually always had a smoking part and a nonsmoke part, but since last year thats also forbidden and smoking in bar is forbidden. I gotta say i like it, you got any idea how fun it is waking up after a full night at a pub without stinking of smoke?

I’ll move this to general if you don't mind.

and i do agree with smoking bans in public places.. However, i think some bars or clubs could have the license and just have a warning on the door saying " you assume the risks by entering this establishment."

i mean if you know there is harmful smoke somewhere and you still go there, then it's your own fault though right???

in Toronto clubs are much more friendly places for me now, i don't smell like a freaking cigarette now every time i go there... it use to be SICK... now smokers can use the patio and we can enjoy better air inside.

If I want to go out, I don't want it to be obligatory to have to be a second hand smoker. Smokers and smoke smell like shit, period.

Why should I have to go someplace else, because a small amount of people have decided to make the air smell like crotch?

Get them out!

Yes, yes I'm back.

Think about those who work there, they dont have much choice. And you cant tell them to quit so this can be a smoking bar either.

Go elsewhere, it should be the choice of the person who owns the business, not the goverment.

If they want people to stop smoking, make it in itself illegal to smoke.

Dont make paper bans, to take away even more freedom from the voting public.

Ban all smoking everywhere. Deadly habit. I have seen relatives die from it.

Second hand smoke kills too. Your addiction should not kill other innocent people.

Only thing is that bans crush local bars and other businesses. Should be in-acted on at the state or country level. 40% decrease will kill and business.

The yanks put the squeeze on a Canadian politicain whom is well known to smoke pot (so what!) . DEA agents with the help from Vancouver Police arrested him with charges pending. I, as a Canadian, I think this is total BS, and think that America should stay out of Canada's internal affairs. I think that American foriegn policy has gone too far! I think America rapes us all, and as humans throughout the world we should unite and crush America! Any comments?
