Insulting convention is insulting. I'm fairly sure we've already spoke about this before and a few were less than pleased about it... and I completely understand why. Talk about unnecessarily pigeonholing a percentage of gamers... how is this "equality"? It's pointless and needlessly separates people based on sexual preference.

"Ooooh, look at me, I'm gay.. and I play games... I'm a gaymer! Teehee Teehee!"

So friggin' what? What happened to just being a GAMER? Facepalm

yeah Sabin thats true...

Im also tired about all this gay bullshit...
In Brasil nowadays it seems to be better to be gay than straight ... you probably know what Im talking...

Theres a old movie about that called "Closet", great comedy about the theme.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0243493/

A guy that discovers that he will be fired from job has the idea to send an anonymous picture to his boss, pretending he was in a gay club with a boyfriend.
The boss, afraid to be considered homophobic, keeps the guy in job. But now he got out "the closet" and all their job partners start to treat him in different manners.

This thing is not right ... homophobie is a crime but gays should be treated like everybody, no "special rights".

Let's not blow things out of proportion. Rolling Eyes

This is a gaming convention. What the fuck does this have to do with discrimination or reverse discrimination? Maybe next you'll want to ban women conventions? Or maybe ban ComiCon because I don't read comics and them comic reader fuckers are flaunting it at us? Rolling Eyes

Whoa whoa whoa Luft, lol, I think you've got me all wrong here.. I say "no" to "Gaymer" conventions as a backup FOR gay people who are treated poorly by society enough as it is, the last thing people should do is FURTHER segregate them with silly "gay only" conventions, whether it was created by a homosexual or not. The whole point of it is pointless and counterproductive, further separating people based on pointless criteria such as sexual orientation.

Gay PRIDE parades? Those I get. The very idea is making a stand against intolerance from persecutors, but Gay GAMING conventions? No sir, I just don't get it. I honestly think it will do more harm than good.

... unless of course the entire gay gaming world feels like this is a good thing and they no longer consider themselves part of the same community, in which case.. whatever.. power to you, I guess Razz

There was already a topic about it, and I already said what I had to say...

I agree with sabin here...

As a gay men who occasionally plays a game, I don't see the necessity to have a gaymercon -.-" I am human being, me being gay only has the effect on my sex life, nothing more...

I get that they are trying to raise the awareness but really...

^^ This.

Although I just couldn't imagine anyone in the gaming community feeling that it was homophobic. Maybe they've spent too much time on xbox live playing against the 13 year old "YOUR A FAG" kids..

That's what I DON'T get. What is there to be proud of? Not like they worked hard to achieve something. This is how they were born. Exactly like Black pride, white power and all that nonsense. It's ridiculous.

I believe the whole "pride" thing comes as a counter to public hatred and ridicule, being insulted and tormented and made to feel subhuman. It's basically a statement "We're proud of who we are, deal with it" Very Happy

I think that the parades are not meant for gays to show that they are proud of being gay, but proud of taking a stand against homophobic majority, and saying that they are ppl too.

In that respect I can see why they are important, especially in small minded countries like Croatia for instance, where LGBT ppl don't have the same rights as hetero ppl, and they can get picked on if they are honest about their sexual orientation...

But the party and pants with holes on their bottoms, that I don't get xD I guess it's the shock value or sth like that...

Black power parades and gay pride parades share a common denominator that white power parades do not.
