Yeah, this whole "retail is different to Steam" confuses the shit out of me too. Best to just wait, there's no major preorder bonuses with this so there's no reason to rush in. Wait for launch and see what happens with RU keys online.

Was released now on Gamersgate, also they have a FAQ here about activation and stuff although I guess most will use the simple exe replacement activation method. Very Happy

It's the filthy Act/Control bullcrap again. Sad

After seeing the very prompt release of R.A.W (which has the same publisher - FHI), I thought they might not reach to using that disease here (as in the case of Sherlock), but alas ... Sad

If you have played Game of Thrones then this game will be quite similar but then again I believe both are made by Cyanide, this however does not use UE3 as it's game engine.

There's a LOT of talking and cutscenes and combat works very similar to how they did in GoT with tactical pre-set orders that are then executed in a sequence and you have various stances, I'm doing pretty bad at the moment but I'll improve just as I did with Game of Thrones. Very Happy

Could be a interesting little game, also it uses PhysX so I could only set particle detail to medium, other than that is uses FXAA but MSAA or similar can probably be forced but I disabled it and switched to the SMAA plugin, not that many other options but it has most things covered for controls and the like, hmm it does look a bit dated with somewhat washed out lighting and lower resolution textures but it's nothing seriously bad, runs good too which is surprising but I kinda tend to believe it'll run really bad anyway so that doesn't mean much. Razz

EDIT: Also there's a lot of swearing but they're Orcs and Goblins so I guess it's natural.

EDIT: As usual a number of images were also taken during this first session with the game.

Just as I expected then Razz, it's more than fine for me, although I didn't love GoT's gameplay. Hope this one brings some neat improvements, and I'm sure it will.

The GoT RPG wasn't bad beside the load times and really horrendous combat. It was ugly as sin too but it was actually quite a cool RPG considering RPG today is basically another name for cover shooter

Steam says it's released here (or it did earlier when I checked.) but this is the retail download edition via Gamersgate(UK) and does not use Steam at all, stand-alone Act-Control activation with five simultaneous activations though they should be quite easy to free up.

Download link and serial key was added this morning however the download link only started working around 17.00 which was a bit weird. Very Happy

Graphics remind me a lot of Witcher 2. Gameplay is quite different, but something about the engine and how it looks like reminds me of W2.

Yeah they have that harsher lighting and very detailed texture surfaces even if overall resolution for them isn't that high, not as much saturation however and seeing both in motion or how to say then Red Engine 2.0 definitively wins but considering the X-Box 360 limitations (And PS3) I'd say they did pretty well and it's not too badly ported either although exposing more options would have been nice, there's a very noticeable shadow LOD line for example.
(The wet surface effect texture is also fairly similar.)

Started on easy to try and learn the game mechanics slowly and then maybe starting over and doing it on normal, turns out the game is still very hard if you don't manage the characters and various commands for them, normal attacks will just get you swarmed and quickly killed or at least so far every real battle has been very serious, Orc's ability to berserk and the stealth of the Goblin has been very helpful but forgetting to set up proper commands will get you killed easily.
(Health regenerates over time so after a battle you can take it somewhat easy before proceeding further.)

Once I get the hang on the mechanics and better manage the various commands plus earn a few levels thus improving attributes and skills things should be a bit more manageable, wouldn't mind better equipment either. Very Happy

EDIT: It's still different but it's not completely unlike the visual system in Risen 2 and it's limitations, still unsure what best to compare against.
