We had one of the heaviest showers in recent years two days ago. So much water fell in so little time that it practically flooded the back yard before it could be absorbed into the soil. Even my bathtub backed up a little, and I'm on the second floor.

Still no rain here, and as far as I'm concerned I don't need it

Tons of rain in Scandinavia...
For some of the yanks (remove the tinfoil hat for a moment please):
Global Warming leads to increased evaporation from the seas which in turn leads to increased amount of the water molecules that makes up the clouds. These clouds then create rain under certain circumstances. It's the cycle of water.
A 2 degree increase of global temps does not mean your thermometer will constantly show 2 degrees more than it's done for the last 100 years, it means global weather patterns, sea streams etc. become affected which can paradoxically lead to snow in Iraq, Australia etc. and hotter summers up north.. and tons of flooding since so much more water is being evaporated to form the clouds that cause rain.

Haven't really noticed it here (yeah there's been some rainy days, but it's now october after all, autumn's the rainiest season) - have the precipitation amounts actually shown a significant increase there?
