|
 |
Alright, here we go. Hit me with the scariest shit of ALL TIME. OF ALL TIME.
The movie Poltergeist used to scare the ever loving shit outta' me but I just went back and re-watched it after 3842389042 years and it didn't scare very much.
We're talkin' those movies that you can't sit still and you know something is coming and you're going to launch out of your seat.
I think The Others gave me a jump, I think The Grudge gave me a jump once.. but those are like, mainstream movies. I want ALL THE MOVIES that will have me shitting every pair of pants I own, OUT OF FEAR.
Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd, GO.

any Transformers movie..those had me jumping out of my seat and screaming for 90% of the scenes. It scared the crap out of me for the whole 2 hours non-stop, that anyone allowed them to be made.
Those hands down have to be the most terrifying movies I've seen in a LONG time.

Well these movies scared me long time ago , now I seen them all..so they can only be creepy for me.
Shutter ( Thai version )
The Eye ( Pang Brothers )
A Tale of Two Sisters ( from master Kim )
Kairo - Pulse ( Kiyoshi Kurosawa )
There are more but I can't remember right now , need to check my movie lists. Some of these are ruined by Hollywood. And yeah they are all Asian but in that time I wanted something new and I discovered these. After I've seen tons of Asian horror movies I simply seen them all !

how is the acting and budget of these asian horrors? I have a feeling they seem really cheap and manage to do the scary part well nonetheless.

Scariest of all time for me it's the Ring but I heard the Japanese version Ringu is better, anyway the scariest movies out there are Japanese it's like they don't care if they give you a heart attack, there is one that I heard is like the scariest ever but I forgot the name.. but I do recall seeing a clip I think it was on youtube, the Japs are sick you can see it in their comics.

The Shining still gives me goosebumps, I was literally terrified of it when I was a kid. Oh, and a Freddy Kruger movie, the one that got a remake last year.
Also, there was a movie with Denzel Washington, a horror movie.. a weird one. I don't remember the name, so if someone can gimme a hint about it, it'll be more than welcomed.

If we're thinking about the same Denzel movie i think it's called Fallen. I remember it being pretty cool and freaky when i was younger.

This thread reminded me that I need to watch more Asian horror movies . I've only watched Audition, The Grudge and Ringu, great stuff.
Sadly classic horror movies based on demonic possessions/exorcism don't scare me the slightest bit, same for Paranormal Activity and the likes :/ Then there are all the zombie flicks which aren't exactly the most "terrifying" ones.
I'm not easily scared in this day and age, though REC was a nice surprise (avoid the sequels ), and The Descent wasn't bad either.
If I had to choose the "horror" movies that had the biggest impact on me when I was younger I'd definitely say The Shining, Alien and Silence of the Lambs.

Is REC the spanish one? Pretty sure I saw that. It's hard for me to get into the first person camera movies... turns me off or something, but I remember REC being pretty decent.
OK GUYS, less "freaky" more "HOLY SHIT AHHHHH!!!"

Dead Silence,
for a regular person, maybe not that scary,
but since I was also a little ~intoxicated at time, the movie sort of came alive,
after that I have stayed clear of that movie. I especially liked the Saw like ending tho.

+1 for The Descent..first one only.
Three Extremes 1 and 2 are nice , but they are not that scary..rather bizzare and sick , sometimes funny..and you have many of Holy Shit ! moments in Miike's movies in general..they are not all typical horror movies tho , but you should watch them anyway. Gozu , Visitor Q , Bird Ppl In China , Ichi The Killer ( + anime prequels ) etc..
Then you have some cool horror thrillers like Rinjin 13-go..so awesome..

yeah descent for sure, partially because of the atmosphere and partially because of the whole claustrophobic side of it. near the start of the film, there was a bit where they were just trying to squeeze through a narrow passage... fucking hell that was terrible and the monsters hadnt even showed up yet!
also alien. man that film was scary. i mean by now we all know the film so well it isnt really as scary, but that movie really did know how to do scary right. these days its all just loud noises and sudden camera movements... but back then, it was all about tension and atmosphere... movies these days just go for the cheap shit, which doesnt scare, it just startles you.
