No one can say if it exists or not. No one knows for sure. I for one think it sounds fucking stupid, since there would be some leak at one point that would reveal their existence. But i cannot simply say it doesn't exist because i find it stupid, because i simply don't know.

Basically there are actual groups around the world claiming to be the successor to the original Illuminati from the 1700s. Those are hardly the kind of things CTs are concerned with.
What CTs are claiming about the proverbial "they" are convoluted conspiracies for world domination. Humans have that little thing called conscience, and the amount of people necessary to pull these off are nearing virtual impossibility to keep secret. There would be people coming out left and right, and if they were all "silenced", the body count would be so high that it would raise a huge flag. Of course the whole "silencing" would also require a whole group of people with the very same problem.
To sum it up, it's hogwash and simply near-impossible thanks to human nature.
Needless to say, the lack of evidence of this conspiracy is just further evidence of the conspiracy. They are so powerful that they can hide everything so effectively. Naturally.

How its ineffective, useless, cant do anything right.
YET it also covers up things so no one knows, is the truth behind many many conspiracy theories, and is able to keep 9/11 and how it did it a secret.

I think, at least for my friend..its the feeling of "knowing something the others don't" or "inside information"
Its the exciting of the 2 options, Roswell, An alien, or a secret test plane crash...ALIEN! that is sooo much more exciting to think about as a possibility. A rational explanation is boring..not worth talking about. And to be one of the few that can "look past the lies" to see the truth. As if it makes him feel smarter to be one of the ones that can 'see beyond what the man tells you'.
Even pointing out to him the flaws in it..he does that "Well you cant disprove it wasn't"..but then again he loves 'ancient aliens' show for the same reason. And I go "Sure it could have been aliens, and it could have been me going back in time telling the Egyptians to make it exactly like this..so that my friend can think its aliens" and ask him to 'disprove it wasn't me'.
And when he goes "That just stupid, we don't even have proof time travel can exist and Ive never seen you SHOW me a time travel device to support your claim, and if it did why go thru all that effort to tease me, seems like a lot of work not to blatantly leave proof you did to prove it" and I go "exactly my point!"

Its pretty simple; if it exists somebody knows, but I doubt someone will ever find out for sure if it exists or not and expose it as it all being coincidences. People are curious and seek answers, so it would be easy for someone to make it all up. And who the fuck found out these signs are linked to illuminati anyway; Hand over eye, all seeing eye, satanic symbols... when I google it I find jesus saves URLs, and that itself makes me VERY skeptical to the whole thing.
There are probably several Illuminati organisations that exist without knowing about each other, all started in university by brats that get off that whole masonic/power-tripping thing. However, the REAL actual myth-surrounded organisation? No. (which is just how they want it, nobody believing in their existence).
