I can imagine this being a resource hog. Minecraft was pretty hungry and it had nothing for gfx. This + a server could be a lot of fun! I remember when the Minecraft NFOhump server was up.
That was mostly due to Java though wasn't it?
(There are mods that greatly improve that as well, though it's often coupled with shader and other visual overhauls which kinda brings performance down again.)
Just checked the demo of this one. The view distance is abit short - other than that it could end up as a decent game. The demo had very little things to do so far and you can pretty much remove anything with just 1 mouseclick. I suppose its more of an early engine release rather than early game release.
And thats what I thought too JBeckman. Tbh it's weird that they havent upgraded Minecraft from Java yet. With the amount of money they earn every day they should put a couple of guys into upgrading the engine.
shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.

Wouldn't that mean essentially rewriting large parts of the game? Why bother when people are still buying the game, better save something like that for the sequel so more people will buy that, too.
