as small background info:
when the brits came over here to colonise the country, they fought the local cannibals, but instead of wiping them out, they drew up a treaty, and the people of this country have been suffering and paying for it ever since.
this is the kind of batshit nonsense we're stuck with now. theyre claiming the water, and now atleast some of them seem to believe they own the wind. this is on top of them constantly claiming that the tax payers of nz owe them ENDLESS money in treaty settlements, which they will never stop taking without a fight, and the governments have always bent over backwards to give them everything they want, which is why this is actually a problem...
the fuckers have even blocked off BEACH ACCESS in the past, because they think they own the seabed/foreshore and the beaches.

this is a common etnical problem in countries that still have original inhabitants, as NZ, Chile and many others.
here, Chile, they are claiming the lands they once owned. and by claiming i mean, not in a Court, but with fire, kills and street fights.
the USA, has not this problems because they killed the most and for the rest, they gave them Casinos to get rich and have fun.

Also, if there's such a clear difference between you and them (and you are on the British side), maybe it's their country and not yours?

i think the problem is the difference that our modern laws have implemented. for instance, a Mapuche (the mayority of our etnical population) has a legal statute that forbidds him to sell the land he owns to regular persons, and give them legal beneffits (that are here, at least, purely formal ones that don't appliy on praxis.
the Maoris in NZ have among others, a unique marriage statute that turns out in many regulations that only apply to them, so, in a divorce, that transform the non etnical person married to the Maori, into a freaking nightmare
so yes, they are legally different. they know it and they try to use that for their own advantage.
perhaps those regulations were justified in previous years. but nowadays it's nonesense and many of them, contribute to this legal segregation that nobody wants.

ok the thing is the british were the invaders, fair enough - thats how shit happened in the past. they wanted the land and they fought for it.
they either should have fucked off back home OR wiped them out. the fact that they did neither, and made some half-ass document IS the big problem.
ever since, the natives have insisted NOT TO BE PART OF NZ, and that they be entitled to forever get settlement money from the tax payers of NZ. this is money that should be used for ALL nz'ers, but instead the natives demand that it become theirs.
they also demand ownership of the seabed and foreshore, and the waters and now the wind of nz, something that should belong to all NZ'ers.
can you not see how in todays NZ that is just pathetic and how divisive and damaging that is?
this is the fundamental problem with what the british did and the legacy of shit that it now causes to the people of this country.
britain should have wiped them out, or never invaded... but what they did do, is leave NZ'ers with a lot of shit they now have to deal with as a result.

In pretty much every case of "indiginous inhabitants" vs. "invading inhabitants" the ones that generally are treated like shit are the aboriginals, the maori, the indians, sami, etc. - they have to put up with 90% more shit than the other way around - and are despised and shunned for what rights they fight for. Old indian burial grounds have been shat over, plowed over and the government have given them the finger - as per usual "the white man" is a hypocrite, and should anyone do the same to him, he would start exterminating fuckers in the name of imaginary deities, politics, racial bigotry or somesuch.
How the fuck you can be complaining about the maori when you already outbreed them by the millions and run a government that is 90% pro-white trash kiwi that gives the maori "certain benefits" for the only reason that if that WOULDN'T happen it would be bad PR and "politically incorrect".
So, seriously. If you don't like their island, move the fuck back to your own.

In brazil the indigenous natives are pretty much treated like shit nowadays. They have to live in small natural reserves that are often invaded by wood choppers, miners, farmers "extending" their land, et al...

My point was that the Brits shouldnt have done things by halves is what Im getting at. Either take over the land completely, or leave.
And you have to realize, Maori are treated equally with other nz'ers, which is why ADDITIONAL special treatment is so pathetic and wrong. They're entitled to the same benefits and rights as any nz'ers, are not "forced to live in certain areas" or anything like that. They have the same rights as all nz'ers. They just believe that they should have more rights than other nz'ers.
The fact they feel they should own the waters and the wind of nz should indicate as much...
Yeah it's a wonderful country.. I just wish that some day they'd put all this shit behind them, and stop all this division, and want to work as ONE people for the prosperity of the country... Can only imagine how much better this country could become without all this division. |
