I'm currently in the mood of watching dystopian/post-apocalyptic movies/utopian, any that you can recommend?

I've seen:

  • 12 Monkeys
  • Children of Men
  • District 9
  • Equilibrium
  • The Matrix Trilogy
  • Dark City
  • The Fifth Element
  • I, Robot
  • Blade Runner
  • The Book of Eli

Any decent ones that I've missed?

You've already watched many awesome movies Razz. I'd add Mad Max, Strange Days, Minority Report, The Road, Total Recall (the original one of course Cool Face), Fahrenheit 451

I wouldn't consider I, Robot a dystopian movie, more like an apocalyptic scenario from an utopian reality.

Also, the Book of Eli, really? That has to be among the worst movies that I've ever watched.

I never said I, Robot or Book of Eli was any good, just that I've seen it. Razz

And yeah, I've read 1984, one of my favourite books of all time, if not THE favourite.

I liked I, Robot, it's a decent movie, but the Book of Eli has to be among the worst of the worst.

A few recommendations.

Moon
Battle Royale
Sunshine
V for Vendetta
eXistenZ
The Fountain (not exactly dystopian but a masterpiece)
The Truman Show (some background dystopian elements)
Planet of the Apes (the originals)
THX 1138
The Time Machine (also the original)
Videodrome
Clockwork Orange

That's because you see movies like there's no tomorrow and you force yourself to watch bad ones. Pfft lol... if it's out, you probably have already seen it.

How do you mean? I thought it was rather nice: the tragic hero played by Gary Oldman fails to prevent the villain Eli from dooming mankind to repeat its mistakes all over again. Such a sad, fateful story. Razz

The island (I found the first half excellent, and the second one turns into a typical michael bay movie, however it still deserves a watch if you enjoy these types of movies)
