So i saw it yesterday. 8/10 Movie. While it was pretty predictable and the story didn't change much since the original, most of the action and chase scenes looked great.
That and Kate Beckinsale.

Yup, they did.
As for Jessica Biel, sure, her too, but i'm a sucker for Beckinsale, and she did play an amazing part.

Lol, as expected the Total Remake was universally panned for being utter crap. And from what I've seen of it in trailers and ads it's a big piece of useless crap. I expect the Robocop remake to be raped in a similar way as well. Some famous names, tons of CGI, even more explosions, all extremely 2-dimensional and lacking even the cheese from the 80'ies/90'ies originals that gave them a certain timbre or atmosphere.

i dont get, why they have to "remake" these classics anyway. Make some new stuff for fuck sake. If i wanna see total recall, i am gonna watch total recall : the original, period.
lazy motherfuckers in hollywood.... and then blame pirates for low sales aswell (riaa/mpaa go fuck yourselves).

I've read some reviews and seems like this movie lives up to the expectations of being as useless as a condom machine in a franciscan monastery. Bah!

Closer than the film, I meant.
Although instead of requesting a memory of a trip to Mars, he is requesting a secret agent memory. I don't remember a gravitational lift in the short story, though. And there's obviously no aliens.
I found the movie to be enjoyable, not your average summer flick, but I am a huge fan of sci-fi and conspiracy theory stories. However, this had A LOT of potential to further study and display the implications of such technologies, but the whole times was focused on Colin's biceps holding a Super-V, which is why I'm going to rate this a 6 out of 10.
Oh and there's too much dubstep in it.

Very well done, weakened a bit at the end. Story was crap, but they created a very cool world. CGI was top quality and action scenes were done well. Beckinsale + Biel in one movie is awesome, Beckinsale as the psycho bitch is even more awesome.
Strangest use of lensflare I've seen in a movie to date. Totally random and completely distracting. Whoever thought of this lensflare bullshit must've been a major douche.

he does at some aspect. the style and atmosphere was pretty damn awesome. along with the little bits and pieces here and there. (phone arm) that was cool. but other shit... the horrible directors cut? it's just disgusting to watch.
apart from the sloppy editing the movie is OK. action pieces are nice. some nice fighting here and there. wiseman can do decent cinematic action. but he hires shit editors. and that's what ruined the entire movie for me. it's an action movie and repeating the same shot over and over... really?
Spoiler: |
for that once scene in directors cut where main guy is on the phone and they just cut back and forth between the same exact shots just different angles. i wish they put in scenes of the agents chasing him. make it seem like he was actually being chased and how crucial his time was. but nope... same tracking shot back and forth back and forth. there were also many other cuts that just didn't work at all. |
imo the movie could be fantastic if it were cut better. or at least cut by someone who isn't a total fucking retard. LIKE... how do the fuck do you cut ^^^^ that scene and think it's good? Just cause you're showing off the millions they spent on cgi or the fantastic idea someone had? Fuck... even die hard 4 had better editing... even that werewolf vampire movie had better editing. WHY DID THIS SUCK SO FUCKING MUCH!?

Watched this.. Hm..
The good. Beckinsale I guess. The cyberpunkish world (why was it wasted on this movie?!!). Most of the CGI looks very well integrated not super flashy and fake that it's painful to watch.
The bad. The acting or over-(re)acting! No one was convincing it was like it was their first take or something. The plot. The dialogue. The editing, some scenes had the music/cut to another scene done amateurly, fanedit-style.
The movie was decent up to the middle of it, it was moving fast. From the "come on man, this isn't real, wake up!" part which wasn't handled as good as in the original it became progressively worse. Near the end almost everything was starting to fall apart, including the CGI.
An okay movie to see once and then shit-delete. I'm about to do that now
