And then there’s Apple. I bought into the Apple account system originally to buy songs at 99 cents a pop, and over the years that same ID has evolved into a single point of entry that controls my phones, tablets, computers and data-driven life.
that's amazinlgy true.
i remember that last year my iphone was robbed. and i was freaked out changing passwords on all my accounts. first, was itunes, that was integrated to the iphone for a "insta-buy". and then, some emails got my entire bank account information.

Completely different in Windows 8 and Microsoft's Live accounts...
Doesn't really belong in this thread. We should start an own "America's obsession with credit cards is fucking insane" thread instead.
Why can someone use a credit card number - even better, a part of a credit card number - to assume someone else's identity?

no, it s fine here. It is obviously about apple's inability to secure their customers information. Other companies do just fine with credit card information.
also, to those saying "oh look at google" / "oh look at microsoft": yes, it might be as bad there in the future as it is now with apple, but who is to blame? The "innovators" who made their customers be fine with a shitty system beforehand?
As far as i can remember microsoft and google always got flak for making their systems more insecure from their own costumer base. Apple seemingly never does. And when criticisms come up, the messengers are decried as apple-haters...
not really surprised, apple stores are full of douchebag hipsters that should be sterilized.
And that store is in an upscale mall in North Dallas where all the rich douches live so I am not in the least surprised either.
if you want to ever see about 100 skinny jean wearing stinking rich hipster douchebag motherfuckers at the same time, come to Toronto and go to the Crapple store in the downtown mall
jam packed full of clueless derps every single day of the week.
