I'm in uk and only on 25mb connection... So either would be same?
Also me and my bro will be sharing the account so that we can download from our different homes at same time.... Will this matter with connections?

Also are both of these fine with account been shared?
I know newsdemon was fine but think giganews complained about account been used from different IP addresses

Try http://www.eweka.nl/en/home/ , account sharing allowed. I use this provider without issues for years. I share it currently with 2 friends from who one lives in sweden. 50 Mbit 30 days for 7.50 euro.

+1 for Astraweb

As mentioned, both Newshosting and Giganews take down files. I'm sorry, but I don't feel comfortable with a company that just bends over and takes it - no way in hell do I trust either with my billing info.

Astraweb has a 20 connection limit (but I max out my 30 Mbps connection on just 5), awesome retention, and is just $11 USD/mo. Can't beat it really.

I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

I just hope they don't end up shit Sad Massive popularity surge generally ends up being followed up a hike in prices and a decline in quality Sad

I said popularity surge Razz Now that more and more providers are jumping into bed with RIAA/MPAA and becoming bitches, Astraweb are going to see surges IMO. Giganews used to be excellent, they became the de facto standard and... oops... our prices just rose 40-50% lolz.

I get free usenet from my ISP, 10 connections +/- 325 KB/s in total.
It's good enough for me.

Just normal connections, my ISP outsourced usenet to tweakdsl.nl and since it is still legal here to download for private usage I am good.

Nope the free usenet is limited to +/- 30KB/s per connection, the internet connection is 20 Mb/1Mb but in reality max download speed is like 1,4 MB/s (copper wire). If want something better then I need cable internet but what I have now costs me 25 € a month, including a telephone subscription.

Hmm 50 Mb/5 Mb cable internet would cost me € 64,90 a month, no way.

I'm about to give newshosting the boot so I'm looking for a usenet provider for $15 a month or lower that does not delete files 24 hours after they've been posted. It's a real shame, I've been with newshosting for 4 years and they used to be good.

Is astraweb still the cheapest/best? My down speed maxes out a little over 12mbps.

Wifey and I are giving strong consideration about telling Astraweb to go fuck themselves and then moving to another provider. Too many DMCA takedown notices lately Mad You know, I can't even download God of War, an almost-decade old game, due to DMCA takedown.

It's happening a lot more lately ... hell, if it only happens TWICE it's two times too many. This DMCA bullshit is irritating, I'm not paying a company $15 a month just to roll over and fuck me.

that is the reason i switched back to newshosting after 2 years with astraweb.
although i have to say that newshosting started having the same issues lately as well, so i wouldnt advise it either.
in the end giganews is still the best quality-wise, i will probably be switching there since i feel the few extra bucks are worth it when it comes to saving myself some frustration.

I use these guys:

http://www.eweka.nl/

They are decent enough, 1400 days retention and for euro 7,50 a month I max out my connection and I get 12 ish MB/sec.

I have no idea if there are better providers out there but I am happy with these guys.

Astraweb has always been fine for me. Any gaps I just make up using either a torrents or a filehost/leech site combination.

There hasn't been a single thing I've been unable to download through one of those methods in the past few years.
