The flashlight is the biggest piece of crap they introduced in BF3. It's like the enemy tells you "hey, i can't aim for shit, but here - take this in the eyes and eat lead". In CQB maps is particularly annoying, when combined with the F2000/P90 bullet diarheea.

But do it like a man  equip the 870MCS. I nearly never used shotguns till not long ago but then I started doing the shotgun kills assignment and I fell in love with the 870MCS. That's what I call a real shotgun (unlike those noob friendly semi-automatic ones) and arguably provides the most satisfying kills in the game. |
Well, my poison are bolt action rifles (SV98, M40, M98, L96), using only the iron sights. I guess it's a habit i got from from RO2, minus the excessive camping. I dont's really like shotties, but yes, i have a weak spot for the MCS. It makes it too easy though, esp. if using flechettes - i switch to it only when i'm on the verge of ragequitting. 
I have the full weapon roster available, did all assignments, etc. but so far no other guns got me hooked like the bolt rifles.
