Get the gringo 6/10 - Quite decent movie that gets too dragged out in the wrong scenes.
The Bounty (1984) 7/10 - In many ways the spiritual predecessor to a lot of seafaring movies, the cast in this is fucking crazy Daniel-Day Lewis, Laurence Olivier, Liam Neeson, etc.
Haywire 1/10 - This movie was complete and utter fucking shit. Soderbergh must've been taking a lot of money up his ass to even touch this. Gina Carano should stick to MMA and never "act" again. *Belch*
John Carter 5/10 - Too much Disney to do this movie justice, but still an experience and some scenes that are quite fun in a "Pirates of the Caribbean" minus Johnny Depp sort of way .

I wouldn't go as far as saying enjoyed, but yeah, I didn't hate it as much as I do now Razz (we were only twelve, we are excused. We were still watching Power Rangers! Laughing)

pfft back then when we were kids movies were about entertainment. commando, pretador, mortal kombat 1 and 2, and such... they were fun movies where you just go So Much Win. It'd be stupid to pretend they never existed. That's like selectively adjusting your own childhood just so you won't embarrass the elitist crew who probably enjoyed far worse shit when they were kids.

Act of Valor - 6/10 - aside from the obvious propaganda boohoohurrheroesdurrderp it's a good action movie just like BlackHawk Down.

The Three Stooges (2012) - 5/10

While the three leads did a phenomenal job playing "the boys" (with Curly in particular being a dead on doppelganger), the modern setting and cringe worthy plot dragged this down in the muck. There were some funny moments (again, most with Curly), but overall it felt very stupid and failed to retain that classic slapstick "feel". And the whole Jersey Shores tie in....fucking hell...left me at a loss for words.

As an old school Three Stooges fan, I was disappointed. This could have been so much better had they done a few classic shorts rather than the three-part overarching plot. Sad

No, it's not stupid to pretend Batman and Robin never existed. And please don't go comparing classics like Predator and Commando to that Joel Schumacher abomination Laughing

Commando is a trash classic, you can lol at that if you want.
Predator, however, is a masterpiece. I'm willing to engage in flame war with anyone who opposes this opinion.

Waldo is just upset because we don't think B&R should ever be remembered, that it should be scrubbed from the annals of time for the good of all mankind, so he's lashing out at ACTUAL classics - trashy or not - in order to cope with the pain grinhurt

there's always in the name of the king...

A man named Farmer sets out to rescue his kidnapped wife and avenge the death of his son -- two acts committed by the Krugs, a race of animal-warriors who are controlled by the evil Gallian.

The Three Stooges

Murder, animal cruelty and child endangerment has never been so 'meh'.

If I ever feel like watching slapstick, I'll stick to the shorts, thanks. Razz

Southland Tales

liked some scenes, the part where the rock explains his 0.00000006 mph stuff had me in stitches.
but other parts ..like 70% were awful.
5/10. 1 point for SMG Very Happy

I've seen enough chav/hooligan violence in my life and I sure as hell don't need to see films about it too.

@mug

This isn't the thread for this so I'm not going to list why I prefer X to Y, just know that England has nothing but shit experiences and memories for me, so that's all there is to it.

No thanks, if given the choice between a "cliché" or harsh realism, I'll take the cliché. I've seen and experienced enough "harsh reality, so awesome!" - I don't need to watch films and have more of it.

big difference between forced harsh realism, actual harsh realism, and cliche.
In this one they just made a dark, graphic movie based on chavs having a go at people.
It doesn't show them as scum... it shows how unlucky some people are if certain impossible conditions were set.

hostel doesn't show the nature of people and how we're in the core evil and what not, it just porn and gore for the sake of porn and gore.

I can watch Hostel because it's not reality, same as SAW, but when it's stuff that's too close to home.. such as very real chav violence and abuse.. then that's my line drawn. As for the whole "impossible conditions" - that's not true at all. The kind of shit shown in this film is very real and it does happen, the only difference is the exaggerated nature and theatrics of the film itself.
