Zenonia seems to be average judging by reviews. Did you play it?

Zenonia is fun, but very kRPG grindfest'y. Fun though. As for why no RPG love for Android? Because, sadly, there really isn't. Of the two.. IOS has a significantly larger software base and larger selection of RPGs. SpykeZ should be able to help you, he loves Android gaming.

You could always play the (AWESOME!) Dungeon Hunter series and space RPG/opera title, the epically godly Galaxy on Fire 2 (and THD) -- though for the THD version you need a VERY powerful Android device.

I'm not sure if GoF2-THD will work on the S3 unless you run Chainfire3d, but if it doesn't work even with CF3D then at least you can run the standard GoF2 which is still amazing.

GoF2 THD looks fucking fantastic. I haven't played it though. Cyberlords looks really fun, I'll try that first. Why is that game so tiny? It didn't ask to download any additional data.

It's not super visual intensive, that's why it's so small, but damn if the game isn't pretty frickin' awesome anyway Very Happy Probably best that you haven't started getting into GoF2 yet... it's basically Freelancer on Android/IOS and will suck an insane amount of time out of your life grinhurt I've been waiting for the Windows version for almost two years and they keep putting the damned thing back.. now it's "Q4-2012" Sad

It works perfectly fine on iPad 3, they updated it in March to even support Retina (2048x1536 on GoF2? drool...)

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/galaxy-on-fire-2-hd/id465072566?mt=8

Quote:

Galaxy on Fire 2â„¢ HD is the completely remodeled HD-version of the award-winning saga that set the standard for sci-fi on the App Store, now available for iPhone 4S, iPad 2 and Retina display of the new iPad!

• Native support for the Retina display of the new iPad

The only downside is if you're on 5.1.1, as IAP don't currently work and that means you can't buy or "acquire" Valkyria/Kaamo. I already own them though ^_^

Yes, they made it run full 2048x1536 resolution, but because of all the shaders and not so optimized code, it ran really slow in some parts. So they introduced in followup patch the option either to play at 1024x768 resolution with all effects or 2048x1536 with little effects. It didn't cross their minds to render at lower resolution. So someone on their forums suggested 1440x1080 as a compromise resolution (that's what most AAA games render at on the iPad 3), and a PR said they are working on a patch to do it. Supposedly 1.08. That's quite a while ago.

Ah shit, I wasn't aware of that. I actually thought the iPad3 had enough grunt to render it properly but then I guess it always comes down to optimisation.

All three of the id RPGs; Doom, Doom 2 and Wolfenstein, are excellent! I haven't bothered looking for a J2ME emulator for the iPad/iPhone though there's a lot of really enjoyable games that make it worth while.

Sadly neither WolfRPG or Doom2RPG are available on Android, so you'll have to be content with J2ME versions... neither of which are anywhere near as impressive as the IOS counterparts.

Yup! That was the original game and id just sprite changed for Doom/Wolf Very Happy

~edit~

Wait, I got that backwards. It seems DoomRPG was first and then Orcs&Elves was based off THAT, rather than other way around.

Doom 2 is even better, it improves upon Doom 1 in every possible way and Wolf? Wolf is excellent as well. I strongly recommend those three (well, four if you include Orcs&Elves) titles to anyone with either an IOS or Java based device. The IOS versions are superior by far but any Java capable handset should be more than fine with these. My piece of shit Skypephone S1 plays Doom2RPG and WolfRPG just fine.

IOS or J2ME comparison;

Scratch that... Spectral Souls just came out for iOS devices Very Happy Fuck yeah! Now if only they'd release Generation of Chaos and Cyberlords Arcology, I'd be a happy man. As for the topic?

40 Android RPGs. Across Age DX is a great game, with Across Age 2 due out later this year. Also, depending on how powerful your device is, don't forget emulation -- stuff like PSX4droid (PS1 emulator), SNESoid (SNES...) and GBAoid (... Very Happy)

Cyberlords isn't worth it really. I've played it for about five hours. While it is a good time waster, it's nothing more than that. Very simplistic and boring really. There are much better games (GoF for example).

I was excited too initially, it seemed very promising. But you're basically doing the same thing over and over again. I know most games are repetitive, especially handheld ones, but great games usually have things like interesting story, combat or exploration that keeps you hooked.

Even my Desire can handle PSX emulation, so horsepower isn't really that big of a deal for most people who get a decent phone now
