Haha, well I guess that puts paid to that idea then .. and just shows how much more life and ability UE3 has in it.
Pretty major contradiction here though;

Developed in-house at LucasArts, unlike SWTOR which is a Bioware made game, 1313 easily looks like it belongs on next-generation consoles. The actual tech demo shown was built on a PC using high-end NVIDIA graphics, but we have just found out that the game also uses the Unreal Engine 3, as confirmed by CVG.
Just to repeat, that’s Unreal Engine 3, not the Unreal Engine 4 that is being designed for use on next-generation consoles. It makes you wonder if we really are ready for next-generation consoles already, when seeing a game like Star Wars 1313 looking as good as this, while still being based on the Unreal Engine 3 – an old engine in reality.
Huh? Yes... because high-end PCs are definitely equalled by seven year old hardware
~edit~
oh ffs, someone already said as much in the comments

They're just numbers put there to make the audience go "ooohh", the Unreal Engine 4 is just an UE 3.6

Kind of proves, that UE is really a great engine - capable of exactly as much, as how much work devs are willing to put in it.
Exactly! As KC and Leo said as well, with the earlier UE3 announcement tech demos, and as games such as the Batman series keep showing; UE3 is far from dead and is more than capable of producing graphically outstanding titles --- it just needs professionalism and skill to accomplish it. Put the engine in the hands of skilled, willing, developers and you get marvellous results. Put it in the hands of amateurs and those looking to make a quick buck, you get lacklustre and often embarrassing results.

UE4's strength is ease of use/lower costs of development first and foremost. The better graphics are "just" a bonus.

They were doing that in 2007 with Crysis1 so 5 years ago actually

Yeah, you may have been doing it 3 years ago.. but shame you have no talent at optimisation and thus nobody could PLAY it 3 years ago Hell, most people still can't play it today and please, don't talk to me about the mysical under-earth ocean either
You are right. but this is clearly on technical level
If Unreal4 got released today less than 1% would be capable of playing it... the demo was on highest end pc

I wouldn't go as far as to say "less than 1%" but you're right; it would be for high end stuff ... but at least it would RUN on high end rigs. Crysis/CE2 was basically half-assed and ran like shit even on highest of the high-end rigs of the time. Even today you need 680s to sustain 60fps and I'm not all that sure a 680 is enough either. Sure CE2 looks great but requiring uber HW from five years in the FUTURE great? Pft no
I got my pc in 2007 right when Crysis1 got released and It ran maxed about ~30+ fps. so not to great as for high end rig from 2007-date it got released.
But now, even tho my pc is almost the same (changed 8800gts320 for gt512), Crysis works much faster.
So it is not only hardware but drivers/software capabilities

I say so, because it was exactly how it was. I first ran it on XP then moved to Vista and drivers were horrible at first, so it was unplayable. But later when drivers were much improved, it played just as smooth on V.High DX10. Still had the CRT back then.
