Hi, I overclocked my i5 2500K to 4Ghz and it would be nice if you guys want to take a look if all the settings are right.

First off; disable C1E. It's not really a good thing to have Speedstep features enabled when OCing, even if you've got dynamic voltage control enabled, but other than that; looking good here Very Happy If you can maintain stability at 4Ghz with 1.19/1.20v then that's great Very Happy

Scythe Mugen 2 Rev. B, but I'm not really happy with it at the moment. I cleaned my PC last month, so I took the CPU cooler off, new cooling paste on, CPU cooler on and it's idling now at 35-39c although I thought before I took it off the temp was 23-27c idle and 39c at load, but I don't come nowhere near those temps now. FYI it was running at 4Ghz as usual. It might be the cooling paste, got some sort of tube and it's maybe 1/1,5 year old, but the substance still seems quite good. So, idle = now 35/39C and load = 52/56c.

@Sabin, thanks Smile

Temps seem a bit high for a 4Ghz OC, though as you said; that's only been since you cleaned your PC and reapplied the TIM. It's probably going through a burn-in phase or, well, it's probably time to get some new solution like AS-5 or Shin-Etsu. Either way, garus is right; you've got an i5-2500k and even the worst binned chips (like mine Mad) can scream past 4Ghz. I, myself, had my i5 running at 4.5Ghz (100x45 ^_^) with 1.35v and temps of 29-33 idle and mid 50s load on a H80 liquid cooler.

We had a similar discussion in another thread and, for the money, you really can't go wrong with a TrueSpirit 140 (as long as it fits in your case Very Happy) -- so get some decent cooling and start making that i5 sing Very Happy

Heh, yeah... just a tad Laughing The TrueSpirit 120 is a bit smaller and offers great cooling just as well.

I have mine running at 4.3Ghz with a very old Hyper 212+ (~35°C idle, 55-60°C load). I'm quite satisfied though, considering its extremely low price Razz

The only problem could be the incoming summer, I'll need to lower the OC :<

I'm running mine at 4.5GHz with an old and crappy Noctua U12P v2. I have it set to drop to 1.6GHz when not stressed, and using offset-voltage.

Mine runs 5ghz with 1.415v Smile Bought this chip used, very good overclocker!. Cooling at the moment is NH-D14 with 2x 1850 rpm gentles.

Edit: Have had 3 different 2500k. One had max multiplier of 43 (1.3v stable Cool Face). Other 48 (1.385v). This what i have now has max multplier 54x (5ghz on air , have done 5,2 ghz suicide 3dmark runs).
