My actual mouse is a Logitech G5 (Blue,2 side buttons),but lately my wheel's starting to act up..sometimes when i scroll it does like 2 move-up/down's instead of your classic "1"..or even if moving it up (mostly) one "step" it just wont move, but once you roll it up sloooooowly up it does the 2 steps...FFFFFFFFF!

I was lookin to buy a new one...the new G400 catched my eye since it's the same shape and stuff like the G5,though the DPI buttons are differently placed and has the Alt+Tab button (wich i guess it wont work if no software's installed),though they said it's also a Default PDI button?

I dont plan going wireless by all the GENERAL comments i've seen on the net, like quick battery drainage or random cursos jumps..the Logitech's G700 has great shape, but the side buttons (and index finger buttons) might be a bitch (i dont use any mouse's software, just to have back/forward thumb buttons),sides it's much costy..

Logitech's a great brand, and my G5 is +5 years old i think..what do you guys think?..please no "RAT7" mouses with "insides separated and being shown",it'll just make me uncomfortable

Thanks in advance

I use the older G500 and thats the best mouse ive had, specially after my stint with various crappy wireless versions.

Got the G700 and the only negative thing is the battery live. The side buttons are looking worse than they are. At least I got used to them pretty fast.

G9x is smaller and i already tried it in a shop (without PC),that's why i said a mouse like the G5 is better for hand shape.

G500 has that spinning wheel i dont trust much from the Performance MX (2011?),also the DPI changer at the index finger would make me accidentally hit em sometimes (same goes to the G700)

I can recommend either the Mionix Naos 5000 or the Logitech G9x (I own both but the NAOS fits better in my palm).

honestly, as much as i love my RAT 7, it looks painful, but it's very nice in your hand just FYI, i can't recommend anything other than the MS sidewinder x5, i was going to recommend the x8 but it looks like they've fucked it up by removing the ability to change the weight of it and making it wireless, i've personally used the x5 and i will say it is a giant mouse which can be hard to get comfortable with, it looks cheap and plastic but it isn't seriously i can pound on the thing as hard as i can and it doesn't get damaged at all, it also has DPI adjustment which again the RAT 7 does better (i prefer a rocker instead of 4 buttons) as well all the other stuff you'd expect as well as three types of mouse feet depending on how smoothly you want it to glide.

take a look at the most stereotypical blackman's review and unboxing here:

no seriously, he uses a second one with two fingers, that should give you an idea of the size of this thing.

anyway, if you do make the mistake of going with logitech, come back and let us know when it breaks and when you have to RMA it in a month because the wheel gets dirty and spins for fractions of how long it should in free spin mode, got three free replacements of the logitech revolution MX hanging around here, they sure do make good - but disposable - hardware.

My G9x is still functioning as if I bought it yesterday, and it's not new.

That must be the MX series then because my G9 is still holding (3 years now)... Surprised
And the G9x can be found now and then quite cheap (I've seen them for 450SEK at times). ^_^

All my Logitech mice I've bought since 2000 are still working flawlessly. Scratch Head
iFeel (Won on CS Lan tournament), Dual Optical, MX300, MX500, MX518 and G9

Yeah, I used to buy all the MS mice before (97-2001) but then switched to logitech and have no complains about them at all (except that they've become a bit pricey with their KB's lately).

If it wasn't for the Mionix Naos 5000 I'd still be using my G9....

it's possible, but then again i've never had an enter key snap in half on a MS sidewinder keyboard like happened with both of my logitech G5/G9(?) (the gaming ones with the LCD on it) keyboards, logitech products last.... a month, two tops in this house.

That's also weird, cause I still have the G15 (Version 1) since I bought it 4-5 years ago (only to be replaced by a mechanical Corsair K90).

Anyway, you seem to have the same experience with logitech that I've had with Razer (every single product I've owned from Razer broke within the first 2 weeks).

I can't say that MS products are bad cause I've had them as well and was also very satisfied (but logitech won me over with the mx510 bunch of years back).

well... serves you right for buying razer poserware honestly.

honestly, for features i like logitech, but for durability and overall lifespan MS has the market cornered, logitech innovates but has fragile products, usually MS has the same ideas soon enough after logitech does them though.

My now 2.5 year old G500 begs to differ. No MS mouse has survived longer than a year here, the cables are fragile as hell. I assume they've fixed their piece of shit sensors by now, but the shape of Logitech's 5-series is still the most comfortable to me.

i meant to point it out about, but i think he's right, it may be mostly the LCD in a keyboard and MX series.

hell honestly, at least one of the keyboards could have been saved except the keycaps don't come off to get stuff out from under them.

Aaah, so you broke it when you tried to get the cap off... With something like a screwdriver etc.. Wink

no i broke it because the cap wouldn't come off and had some crap stuck under it so i tried to force the enter key back down thinking it would type normally that way.

all three of the mice were broken under gentle but near constant use as well i might add.
