My best guess is to add 2x antialiasing and see how it runs. This is the only thing I changed on my detected settings with an asus 6600GT 128MB.

I'm sure most of you have already read this article. Regardless it's pretty useful so here's a link in case it wasn't already posted in this huge thread:

I'm pretty satisfied how the game runs on my old P4 3.2, 1gb, 9800pro. Actually, it runs much better then any previous BF game

More video ram maybe?

Will be setting up a 10/10 server soon!

fuck. i'm getting tired of the issues with this game. the network support is fubar.
gamespy don't work with it.
"play now"- feature doesn't work.
"verifying client" takes forever.
scrolling the serverlist is nearly impossible.
twice have I been thrown out to the desktop.
a lot of times in-game I get "there is a problem with you connection"- message
sometime it just disconnects.
steam may suck in many ways. but hey, atleast it works.
... but even worse, it releases satan.

If there's one thing DICE does, it's fix their shit.
Give 'em a chance. They are already testing a patch, it's not like they don't care or don't know there are problems.

well the closest one is this I think.

yes. well... DiCE is allright most of the time. I can accept that some games need patches (wich in itself is kind of strange) BUT what I dislike is that EA don't put some info on the official site saying something like "we know that there are some issues, we are working on it"
... but even worse, it releases satan.

Just bloody frustrating as when it works it is sweet: in terms of framerate etc. but there are these awful period of drag and lag and 20 mins reloading the server menu then 15 minutes loading the bastard map followed by 5 mins verifying the c***ing client ... then once the map starts it is always laggy for 2 mins or so--- bad news if your base is under attack...
Also if you have the audacity to try and quite during any of the above it take f***ing hours to disconnect or return to desktop and once it does it freezes everything up for a while.
As you may have gathered I am fairly pissed with it all...
On the other hand, it can be great - disappointed the VoIP is not used as ppl report it makes good servers laggy.
Sigh -- roll on a patch or 5!

Yeah, the resource sucking-ness of this game is of biblical proportions. I mean, really, when I saw HL2.exe sucking up 500 megs I thought "omfg what the hell" but when I see BF2's whopping 750+megs usage... wow.
The loading doesnt take long but the verification takes long enough for me to go from here to 7-11, pick up the newspaper, read it, come back, eat dinner, and still have time to watch it finish. Even worse is the random moment in every game where I see my HDD/CPU light blink and the game lags... but after that it runs good. I guess it's something to be improved upon in later patches. Peace,
fear the led zeppelin that was!

I dunno. It doesn't lag for me. Intel P4 1.7Ghz, Radeon 9600 SE, 512 RAM, i haven't encountered lag yet. The servers I play on are all like 12 ping for me too. =)

People having lag issues at start of game and lots of hard drive activity during game, check your pagefile settings.I had the same trouble until I reduced my pagefile from 1024 min/max to 350 min/max.Seems the game was using the pagefile b4 the physical ram. This has solved the problem for several of my squadmates as well.Worth a try.
People having server screen probs,I had same until I opened the necessary ports.

If anyone is bored/disappointed with BF2 (or maybe baught and cant play because of slow PC) and want to try Guild Wars, I'm willing to trade my GW account (you can clean all characters and it will be like brand new) for BF2 legit cdkey.
Please PM me and we'll take it from there.

Stuff that were left out due to rushed release:
http://www.teambfmc.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=766
Check the above link, it explains about how there was a "Clan HQ" in the game prior to release, where the game had a seperate section for setting up clanmatches, keeping clan-statistics, etc. - an entire own ranking system for clans.
Also it had another game-mode called "Supply Lines" that apparently are still in the server-side, but never were put into the client side.
Also there's options for having the clan's own armpatches, and a lot of other goodies, including 128 player maps. AND another (better) serverbrowser.
Obviously these were left out, the game wasn't complete...
