Hes going to be using this pc mainly for gaming and photo editing, now and then video editing.
He still got my old videocard (AMD HD4890 vapor-x), but once i upgrade, he will prolly take my dual HD6870.

So any advise on this?

Ivy bridge is hardly worth it.
Sure, it draws less power, but it gets hotter than Sandy bridge, so I'd get an i5 2500k with a NH-D14, should save a pretty penny on the mobo as well.

I know, but i need to convince him, he's quite stubborn right now.

Got any good review website that shows in their graphs a comparisment with 3770k/3750k/2700k and 2500k?

Because he uses his pc mostly for gaming and photoshop, only now and then he will do video converting.

Keep in mind that is only at 2.8 ghz frequency.
But it gives you the idea that there is not really that much improvement that warrants the high price Ivy bridge has along with worse heat dissipation.
Arguments that you want to use is that using a sandy bridge will give a much better overclock headroom due to the fact that the heat levels are lower, as well as saving him a lot of cash.

Just check Anandtech. They've posted a whole series of articles about it.

The sabertooth looks awesome.
Ivy seems to be fine with slightly higher temps, and overclock v nicely. i doubt it would be a problem for any of us who have decent coolers.
The i5 chip seems to be the sweet spot yet again.
