I'd cry. Diablo 3 and the Firaxis UFO remake is on the top of my most wanted list at the moment. It's very manly of you not to cry though.

Edit to say: I like how you're quoting yourself K0tY. It's almost like you're nobility Very Happy

able to see the appeal to people who have waited for this game for years.
even to just play it for 10 minutes is great.
why do you think people stand in line for hours at blizzcon and E3 to playtest upcoming games for 15 minutes?

Fanbois ?
Diablo 3 is not that great, i played D1, D2, and im looking forward to D3, but if i would miss it, i wont be crying, there are a lot of other even better hack-n-slash games coming or already released, dont see the point of D3 beeing best just because its from Blizzard.

There was one really great looking hack and slash i was looking forward more than D3 but i forgot its name :/ it looked bit Easternish.

Released games that looked good and i found them interesting were Torchlight, Sacred, Sacred 2, dont know if Dungeon Siege 1,2 can be include in HacknSlash, but were close to what i felt like while i was playing Diablo with friends.

You cannot say with a straight face that Torchlight is better than Diablo 3. It's just silly. And i forgot about Sacred which was a great game (Sacred 2 not so much). But these are all old games and we've already played them to death.

Well i didnt played Diablo3 so i cant say if its better or worse, maybe Icewind Dale series. Its hard to tell because Diablo1,2 was such a great game loads of new IPs and genres were made from it, its hard to tell, i will wait for game release to judge, tho i hate the idea for real money auction house/Permanent connection requirement.

You should hold judgement to when you play it then. It's definitively better than the previous Diablo's although some design decisions are far from appealing everyone.

Icewind Dale series? Rolling Eyes

@ixi

Forget that €42 lark, that's an insane price and no Locke, it's NOT worth it. Blizzard are charging £45/€55 on their store and more other retailers are €44+ -- that's insane. Since when did we become such gullible cows to be milked? Amazon have it for £27, which is €32 and much more reasonable.

First of all, it's Activision who's setting the price, not Blizzard and second of all, you don't know if it is or not worth 42 Euros Smile We'll find that out after the release. And obviously, if you can get it cheaper, you sure as hell should, just to rub it into Activision face! Wink

Hehe thanks, Amazon is definitely more reasonable. I think I'll wait for a while though...I still have to organize my budget (and the expenses are doubling this month because of the Uni taxes Crying or Very sad Razz)

Blizzard has always been expensive, even before they were acquired by Activision, so drop the BS please. As for knowing whether it will be worth such an extreme price? Yes, I do know, I've played the beta and know that compared to £27... it's not worth the £45 asking price from Blizzard. Worth £27? Yeah, I'd say so, but not £45. Oh and that's for the digital only copy too.

FORTY-FIVE FUCKING POUNDS, for a digital copy. It's disgusting and nothing you say will ever defend that action. Amazon's version is a boxed copy, something you can actually hold in your hands and sniff the wonderful new-manual smell grinhurt You are right though, buying it from Amazon and saving 40% is definitely a nice slap in the face to AVTI, wehee!

Yea, I agree, the digital price is fucking ridiciculous but let's be honest, who buys it from there? People with lots of money who don't give a fuck about 10 Euros, some dumb fucks who have no idea where to buy it elese where or people who have no other option but to buy it there.
And even though the official price is fucking stupid I still think that IF D3 lives up to the potential it will still be worth to shell out 55 Euros on it. We are talking here about hunders of hours of gameplay if all goes according to plan.

Yes, but not 100hrs of hours of fresh or original gameplay. Once you've finished the campaign with the five classes, you've pretty much seen all there is to see in the game - the rest of the time will be spent on boss runs, grinding and farming for rare drops and playing PvP.

Right?

They're charging us 60 euros for just a digital copy.

Boxed copy is 50$(110 turkish liras). I've been saving up for Diablo 3 for some time now, so the price is not a big problem. I bet I will be playing this at least for 2 years.

Erm, really weird argument there, Sabin. It's Diablo, what the heck would you expect to do in it? Very Happy In Civilization you build your empire over and over again, in Football Manager you build your club basically following similar pattern every time you do it and I spent 200h in CivV and over 300h in FM2k12 Smile It's what you do in Diablo, you hunt for items!

@frogster

Isn't there? I was under the impression that there was, oh well, my apologies.

@locke

You made it sound like there are hundreds of hours gameplay in Diablo 3, when in actuality it's not.. not really, it's the same 20hrs or so repeatedly endlessly. Nothing new, nothing changing. You could argue that it's the same as any other game, but the outcomes are different in, say, Civilisation and Football Manager. The outcome will never be different in D3, you will always fight the same enemies and always at the same places.

If you get my meaning.

@streagle

2100GMT, if I'm not mistaken. That's a good few hours away yet Razz

Activision and Blizzard Entertainment still exist as separate entities.[9] The holding company does not publish games under its central name and instead uses its subsidiaries to publish games, similar to how Vivendi Games operated before the merger.[10] The merger makes Activision parent company of Vivendi Games' former divisions.

While Blizzard retained its autonomy and corporate leadership, other Vivendi Games divisions did not.

Finishing the game with each of the four different classes and on every available difficulty is only 20hrs worth of gameplay? Whoa!

Diablo 2 always posed new challenges when choosing a new class or different a build, atleast on the harder difficulties. Are the classes in D3 really that similar to eachother?

I doubt I'll be able to put down D3 after just 20hrs of gametime, without the feeling of just having scraped the surface.
